Chambered in a new version of the Rem 700, called the Model 700 XCR African - available mid 2008 in a 700 trinyte coated barreled action (like XCR). 22" medium contour barrel w/ sights & w/ barrel band front swivel. brown laminate stock, ADL blind magazine, Limbsaver R3 pad

chambered in the *new* 375 MARUM which appears to be a shortened 375 Rem Ultra Mag to make it same OAL length as a 30-06. The ammo will feature two loads, a 270 grain Cor Lokt Ultra bonded @ 2800 f/s , and a 300 gr Swift Aframe @ 2600 f/s

speaking with a sales rep about the new cartridge he says it was designed to give big bore thump in a easy to handle rifle with recoil levels that most anyone can handle.

Suggested retail is approx $1100 canadian

one quick question. Being from Ontario and not seeing any use for anything over a 338 Win Mag....other than for Bear and I mean the big fury brown ones...not the cute little black ones...what is the reasoning for going so big other than the "I have big gonands feeling!" I can see some of the very large slow moving cartridges that act like a 30-30 for knocking down tree's in the bush and still taking out your deer with out deflection but there are how many cartridges now in 375???

With the mag. length on a 700 it seems kind of stupid. Its got some pretty stiff competition if it plans on going up against THE KING.
RyanBambach, liveing in areas where there are no dagerous animals has nothing to do with owning big guns. Here in B.C. I could probably squeek by with a 338 or 375, I still enjoy the .40+ ones wheather I need them or not.

" Donkey, you bin inta MA' RUM?":D

You know, I can see Ruger bringing out the .375, but why would Remington even bother when they already have the .375 RUM. Who cares if its shorter, nobody else is going to chamber their cartridge anyway.

I will definately look at the Rem 375 MARUM I am one of those that doesn't like the newer Ruger rifles especially the safety and totally prefer Rem 700's actions...

oh yeah, i think this is another gatehouse broke his hip thread.

No, I am fine, thanks for asking, though.:)

When somebody introduces a .375 more powerful than the 378 Weatherby, then it will be news.

Why companies introduce new cartridges that they know are going to be outperformed by existing ones in the same caliber is beyond my understanding.

Probably because they believe that people will be more willing to purchase rifles that don't cost $7 a shot.:)

Seems to have worked for Ruger, they sold over 8000 rifles chambered in 375 Ruger in the first year of the cartridge, far surpassing any predictions. They can't keep up wiht the demand!
