My little Norinco Woodsman copy is a great little gun. I have had very little problems with it except, when I release the slide catch without a good grip on it the backstrap pops out. When this happen's I just squeeze it back in to place. Does anybody else have this problem?

Is it possible that I'm not putting it back together properly?
Have you guys tried it with your guns, I have never had it happen with live ammo. Like I said it only happens when I have light or no grip on the pistol grip.

I only took the gun apart once (and decided to never do it again! lol) so don't remember the steps well; but don't you have to have press the little button on the side and lock back the slide in order to be able remove the backstrap? trying to think what prevents it from coming out....but whatevr it is it must be busted...

Nope - it shouldn't do that. The plunger on the top of the slide is to hold the recoil sprng in place for reasembly. I suppose if the recoil spring wasn't held in place by the plunger it could be possible for the backstrap to pop in but I could never get it to. If the recoil spring came loose you'll have to push it forward with a small screwdriver, then depress the plunger and slowly release the spring so that it catches on the latch thingy. Then reasemble the pistol as per the instructions. The backstrap should not pop out if properly reasembled. I'm thinking the backstrap assembly probably prevents the slide from flying off during recoil (i.e. right at your teeth)...though I could be wrong....

From playing with it last nite it would only do it if the safety was off! I was hoping that I could fix it with out the hassel of sending back to Marstar.
