New J. Allen Enterprises JAE-700 stock for Rem 700 short actions :) :sniper:

rick. Over at Ayy-Tee-Arr. The Tactical Rifle place in Alberta. You know, the guy who pissed off the owners of this site, who consequently censored the term 'ATR,' as who is now known as 'He Who Shall Not be Named,' or HWSNBN
Edit- ooo, it's not censored anymore.

I dunno, I'd rather have that over the AI 'chassis systems' (but not by much).

Actually, it's really making me think about getting a 700 (which I normally rather dislike)

Yep, that's the guy :)

I'm not saying he didn't deserve to get canned; I have no opinion about that - I wasn't involved.

It was still a little silly to censor the name of his business; last I checked it wasn't against the rules to talk about non-sponsors' businesses. WSS, brownells, Cabela's, Epps, etc, etc. None of them were verbotten names

Mag conversion/bottom metal part of the stock? Proprietary mag?
Looks maybe a little compromised on the handgrip, I'm more partial to the straight up and down pistol grip style. But then again, the grip being a seperate piece, does that mean it can be swapped out like the miad?

Moving to the topic at hand knowing far too much about the events that led to John ##### and Rick being banned...
I got to play with the JAE Rem 700 at the shot show and it was very nice. I firmly believe they make a top grade stock. The AI stock, as far as I'm concerned should have been made with fiberglass skins, not the recyled milk jugs that are impossible to work with. Just because AI has military contracts, it doesn't mean they're a comfortable stock to handle. The JAE at least doesn't have a thumb hole so it will fit anyone and they come with enough adjustable spacers to make any ill-proportioned human actually fit it. Remember, no matter what people on this form think, Canada's population falls into the state of California so think what you like, they are a well made stock.

And whats the worse that can happen, you spend a grand and get a decent stock and don't have to fork over another 300-500 dollars for bottom metal/detachable mag system. It will have its following. I am gonna get one and I don't even have a gun for it yet. Might as well give it a shot, and if it doesn't suit me.....I sell it to someone who might like it.

One of the guys at our club has JA for is M1A, personally I think it is great, he bought it a year ago and it was $1000 so I do not think the price will go down that much. I like this new one, but I still prefer the AI system over them all.

The cool part about this stock is that they've ungraded since the last stock and intregrated a lower rail at the rear of the stock to accept whatever you want to stick to it. Also the cheek rest easily removes for cleaning with a rod which is nice. I'm not super keen on the idea of yet another mag system out there but truefully, once you've bought an extra one or two, you'll been set for a long time. The mags don't feel cheap either. They actually feel more solid then the AI mags. The wall thickness is definitely thick, no question. I've installed a bunch of
M1As into the JAE stocks and I have to say, they are a tight fit.
