22 ARC, the 22-250 killer

About a .100 better BC, from the 62gr. But prob takes quite a distance before that becomes apparent eh?

No reason the Valk couldn't be loaded with the same bullet though... and factory options up to 90gr are listed by federal.

I'm trying to figure out the difference. They seem awfully similar to me, too similar perhaps...

Yeah that's a headscratcher. Maybe they want to drive it out of business through more/better marketing? Only thing I can think of is maybe slightly better throat geometry for those heavy bullet. If anything. Seems like pretty much the same capacity casing, same OAL etc etc. like you said!

Separate from the Valk issue, for the light bullet mafia, 224 Grendels have been able to drive 53 grain bullets to 3800+ FPS. Thats enough for 22-250 comparisons.

Here we go. Tods comparing 1000 yard ballistics on a cartridge marketed as a varmint round.

Heck, why not?

Doubt the 80gr ELD-X is going to be marketed as a varmint bullet lol

Who says it has to be shot 1000 yards at an animal? That's kinda silly. Lots of cartridges are 1000 yard capable and not shot that far at game.

LIES! If you can get to 1000 you MUST hunt at that distance. Anything less will get you struck by lightning for disappointing the Gun Gods.

Get the cartridge, shoot something with it, then start a thread. That should give my headache a year or two reprieve. :)

Joel just adds drama. Not experience.

You bring drama by getting your granny panties in a wad. Simple statements. Math like energy, velocity etc do have a role in killing power. More 223 rifles should have faster twist barrels. Result? pages of crying and ridiculous, pointless argument.

Lots of people shoot a 308 to 1000 yards plus. Does that mean I need to range animals at 1000 yards with the one I hunt with? This is stupid.

This line of reasoning is...well, bereft of the reasoning part lol

Oh honey, you're a drunk and your headache is self inflicted. Otherwise you wouldn't be here commenting all the time and keeping things going!

Apparently! Hahaha. If not, you just don't have enough experience to be posting in here, sir!

The egos in this thread are hilarious. Now I'm waiting for Dan to come and say he's been shooting since flintlocks were a new thing, like his posts here make any sense because of it.

I think .220 russian to 22 ARC would just be load and shoot, so yes.

I can’t seem to find rim to shoulder/neck measurement of the 22 ARC. 6mm ARC is 1.2558” and 220 russian is 1.26”.

Yep! in response to:

You may note, I never said no one has been using fast twist barrels before. I never said I suddenly discovered them. I never said everyone is against them. So I ask again, what the heck are you talking about, man? lol.

Really only a couple people are having a very odd reaction to a simple statement here. Hardly everyone. Just you and Pathfinder actually. And then it turns into "I'm gonna argue against things you never even said now!"

Why, Dan? Why do you do that?

So who's pushing back against your new flavor of the month Joel? I don't care heat you run, but pretending that a fast twist 22 arc will out do a fast twist 22-250 is nonsense. - dan

I honestly don't know what you're referring to here with "new flavour of the month". But right this minute? Let's see. We have you making up things I've never said, which seems to be your go-to. We have Buckmastr going on about ranging animals at 1000 yards apropos of nothing. And we have Pathfinder whining about headaches while he's still here and reading everything lol.

So, pretty much the same lulz from the beginning.

No one did. But since when have you let no one actually saying something get in the way lol

Read the title of the thread Joel. - dan

Read the thread itself, Dan.

I suspect the title may at least in part be good natured pot stirring. No one said it will outperform a fast twisted 22-250. Ever. Not even the guy who started it.

Tikka currently lists 3 different options for a 8-twist 22-250 on their website, a Varmint Hunter, Varmint Hunter Stainless, and a Super Varmint. I dunno how hard it is to get one, but it seems they're not just a special run?

nice to see Tikka doing up an 8 twist 22-250!

well when someone suggests the small powder charge rounds = mortars...truths need to be known
