I took it upon myself to fit a delta ring and clamshell type handguard on the wk180 gen 2

As you can see it fits. Not drop in but with minor fitting it can be done.

Now it's not a direct impingement, it still utilizes the same wk180 gas system. I just drilled and tapped the FSB, dimpled the barrel and set screwed it on.

The handguard is a magpul moe midlength and it is just long enough to cover the gas system and it fits over the barrel and gas system with no modifications.

Only modifications that were done was the standard ar15 barrel nut, delta ring, delta ring spring and delta ring snap ring. It was only minor file work, just opening it up more to allow the piston to fit.

I know there is the raven that doesn't require any fitting to make something like this work but this is the rifle I have and I like to tinker with things. Plus it makes it look so much better now.

That's honestly the best looking WK180 I've ever seen. Just needs this mod from the factory, and another generation/batch with all the necessary fixes for 100% reliability, and I'll fork over cash for two.

I don't know why they haven't done it. Maybe waiting for one of us to do it and show it can be done, I don't know.

Looking at the rifle they need to do some changes. For example:
1. Get rid of the side charging handle, there is no reason they couldn't put a top charging handle on the rifle, even if they can't put an AR charging handle they can do their own proprietary one. The side charging handle is just a piece of flat bar with a nub that hooks onto the bolt when pulled. Do the same but on the top.
2. Change the gas system, obviously direct impingement would be ideal but if not then have something similar to like the Osprey piston kit for AR's that's available I'm the states. Tried and proven plus it fits into FSB and has the different gas lengths, carbine, midlength and rifle.

So if Kodiak or whoever is listening, this is what we want. If the Raven can be made then I don't see how this can not.

I've only zeroed it with a sitelite laser in the basement which should put me on paper at least. Tomorrow I'm heading out for a shoot and I'll zero it then.

Yeah, an optic attached to a pic rail attached to a removable carry handle attached to a pic rail sure is something. But it does get the retro vibe going. The handguard and the A2 front sight actually look really cool. Nice work.

Proof that it is impossible to make a product that pleases everyone. In this thread alone we are praising delta rings, front sight blocks, carry handles and one guy wants the top charger that everyone hated.

To the OP, it looks frigging awesome! Job well done !

I got stung with (2) Gen 1 WKs , both would not chamber or cycle

They won't get my money for a Gen 2 either

This is exactly what I wanted to see, I love the retro style stuff, if they made a copy or the ar180b on a wk lower I’d be beyond happy, but I’d totally do a m16a1 or a2 lookalike using the second gen

The gen 2 definitely is better looking, the lines are there.

I'm waiting on an c7 like rifle length handguard and a round m4 type midlength handguard to come in and see how those fit/look.

I think those might look a bit better as there will be less barrel exposed at the front. That doesn't mean this one doesn't look good though!

Looks great! Love that retro look. Now if they were just reliable out of the box......
