The all new Famae flat top.

While you have the muzzles hanging out, are they threaded or pinned? Any idea on thread pitch?

It is definitely threaded - the Flash-Hider has flats for a wrench, however I strongly suspect that heat will be required to overcome some form of LocTite/Rockset thread locker.

Here's mine with a new Riton 3-18x 50mm Scope in an American Defense QD Cantilever Mount all ready for accuracy testing next week (weather permitting). I suspect that this rifle will soon find itself wearing the new Arken EP8 FFP 1-8x 28mm LPVO that I have inbound with arrival next week. I have a set of MDT 34mm Rings that will do until I can find a suitable Cantilever mount. I will be going with a Holosun HS 507C in a 45-degree Right-side offset mount as my back-up in the absence of Iron Sights. I find it very bizarre that they (FAMAE) decided to dispense with the existing Iron Sights that were in place. Th rifle looks odd as a result of the omitted Front Sight...

One thing that I immediately noticed about this iteration/production run of the SG 542 is that they appear to have a much finer finish than before. I don't know if FAMAE is now using some type of powder-coat finish instead of the usual thick epoxy paint, but the paint over the parkerizing is definitely thinner and "neater" than before. The markings are actually legible this time!

Hey Tactical Imports,

You might want to have a word with your Shipping Department. An extra layer of Cardboard at the Muzzle end might do the trick. This is what greeted me at the Post Office this evening. EVERYONE PRETY MUCH KNEW WHAT MY PACKAGE CONTAINED......

Frankly, I'm surprised that the contents didn't disappear somewhere enroute!

Absolutely and completely unacceptable. We are having VERY strong words with the warehouse today. If anyone's rifles arrives damaged please reach out so we can resolve the situation.

I caved and bought one. Was debating between this and the Tavor 7. Figured if I don’t like it I can always sell and get the Tavor later on. Got 4 extra mags, both large and small parts kit. This will be a range toy so I figured 5 rounds would fine.

Hopefully mine will be shipped out with better packaging.

Very much appreciate that.

What are everyone's thoughts on the bipod?

I caved and made a separate order for the bipod today, along with some extra mags.

I got my new Tavor 7 yesterday and its a nice rifle, but it isn't ###y... looking forward to my 540

I found it to be awful, instead I fixed a small piece of rail to the bottom of the handguard and mounted an actual bipod that way. The bipod does look cool though and sleek when its folded up.

The Bipod is probably worth the $200 you paid for it, as that amount of $$ doesn't go very far these days. That said, it is of fixed height, so suffers from the likelihood that it will be too long or too short for your particular resting surface. The biggest problem with the FAMAE bipods however, is that they attach to the Bayonet Boss, which hangs down pretty low in comparison to the underside of the Handguards. As a result, the Bipod does not really conform to the underside of the Handguard like say, the SIG 550 bipod does. The FAMAE Bipod rattles and shifts around in the hand, which I find distracting and non-conducive to accurate off-hand shooting.

My package came exactly the same. The box clearly was not large enough for the rifle packed inside. the charging handle was poking out the side too

I think that I prefer the Green/Black combination with the Zhukov folder. Now to paint up my other Black furniture to match, so that my SG 540 can have it's two-tone finish back!

You will probably want the bipod, if for no other reason than convenience and not regretting being unable to find one later. That being said, it’s not good. I had the nicer later version on my Swiss target. The Swiss could do 1 moa at 100 for 5 rounds using 62 grain ammo. But you had to put the bag near the mag. Otherwise you’re shifting POI with pressure on the barrel. The bipod does the same thing with this design! It’s not good. The bipod’s best use is Mostly for displaying the rifle.

I have a T7. Like it a lot. Height for rings needs to be 1.5” or you’ll never be comfortable. Could use the podium bipod system to make it even better. There is a third party product to allow it but haven’t heard back in over a year now after putting my name in the list.

It’s happy to see you! 😬

Nice…were does one find a Zhukov folder that’ll mount to a Famae??

See the "Spacer" between the Buttstock and the Upper Receiver? That Spacer is a Zhukov Stock Adapter for the FAMAE SG series of rifles, with matching, machined external contours. You need to send a PM to "PR Cook" here on CGN and requests to buy one of his Adapters for $175 shipped. Then you Cerakote the raw, silver-coloured aluminum Adapter (or pay someone else to do it), and mount everything together to create the finished product that you see above.

Awesome…Thanks
