I just thought I'd tease you girls with this. It's a simple concept, uses AR15 bolt, barrels, lower parts, and a similar bolt carrier. How ever, change the design and function so that it is not an AR15.

This is a very early concept drawing, whipped this up in about and hour.

Different upper, different lower, differ bolt carrier, different operating system, completely incapable of working with AR15 uppers and lowers... I could go on.

It has little in common with the AR15 other than ergonomics and a few internal parts. You can't tell that from this basic and initial concept drawing, but trust me. The big difference is it is short stroke piston operated with the recoil system contained in the receiver, not extending into the stock. It has more in common with the AR18 than the AR15.

In case you haven't figured it out at home, that means a non-restricted rifle to compete with the AR15.
 
Same bolt but different operating principle? Sounds like every gas-piston conversion out there? Get rid of the rotating bolt, roller-delayed blowback is where it's at! I have some SolidWorks models of this system in 5.56 that I made if you're interested.

They key feature I'm trying to maintain is the ability to use common aftermarket forends and barrels, hence the use of AR15 bolt and barrel assemblies.

Other than that, the whole operating system and receivers are different, hence the non-restricted tag is as long as the barrel is long enough.

I may be interested in those Solidworks models.

The boss is in control of what gets put into production.

This is a fairly simple design that follows AR15 ergonomics so who knows when it will be available.

Maybe tomorrow, maybe today. Who doesn't want to save their money for a non-restricted AR15 type rifle?




In the end, is this not me trying to get a promotion? Who knows?

I am more than willing to exploit loopholes in our unexplainable gun laws.

If this project gets going I will be VERY interested.

By "very interested" I mean I will buy one as long as these rifles shoot.
 
I'm thinking that your boss is thinking what i'm thinking you're thinking (wow it's late) and I'm thinking that this would very well be a license to print money. :D Also, getting a particular group of politicians frothy would be gravy:dancingbanana:.

I was initially planning on picking up a 180b this year, but the idea of something new coming out of canada interests me alot more

I just realized that even though our gun laws are irrational(no reason why an ar-15 should be restricted in the first place), it certainly has, or seems to be leading to a lot of unique and ingenious ideas here. :)

You know what's funny? This thread will be the first the boss will see of this idea. ;)

I'm sneaky like that. Drum up public interest before going to the cheque writer. :D


Oh he'll get the completely done up models in a couple of weeks, but I guess you guys mean more to me.

If it is non-restricted (meaning I can hunt with it), reliable and priced comparable to the AR platform I’ll buy. If only because it is a Canadian venture. Tall order though.
