I saw this advertised a few days back in the EE and jumped on it fast. Yesterday I arrived home from hernia surgery in Edmonton to discover the gun had arrived. Opening the box and assembling and admiring the contents definitely took the discomfort of surgery away. I can't imagine why fellow member/trap shooting afficianado sharp shooter would want to part with this classic beauty but I am glad he did...this gun is sweet and definitely from the era when guns were built right and meant to last and work reliably... :d

Best M12 I've ever seen.
This beauty will help you heal, much much faster.

Bill I sent an e-mail with pictures to Pauline Meurlle to see if she could identify if it was an actual pigeon grade or a faked one and she confirmed it is a genuine pigeon grade so I was very happy to hear that!

Nice gun it was on Epps site for months I looked at it many times then it was gone not many of them in Canada

I know of one other only and as far as I know he passed it on to his son who is a policeman in North Bay, Ont. It is a superb example of one and likely hasn't been shot since the mid 80's.

Very nice!

Thank you.

Beautiful Frank ,I have seen one other pigeon grade in my time don't think it was nice as that one. So many beauties ,,,sigh

Nice find. And it looks like it is in mint condition. Recoil pad still looks new. Bluing is almost perfect. Wood is in excellent condition. It looks like the takedown version. Please check and share with us the year of manufacture.

All model 12's are two piece takedown versions except featherweights and I posted the age in the title. Gun was made in 1964. Pigeons could not be bought new over the counter. They were by order only.

My bad for not paying attention to the entire original post... My late Uncle had a Model 12, not a Pigeon model like this. It was purchased in the 50s, and in very good condition. Used regularly for bird hunting (marsh and dry lands) with my dad, it was still in very good shape the last time I saw it 29 yrs ago. 70% bluing left, wood is typical hunting gun, oiled. Cleaned and oiled after every hunt, it was in very good shape for the age. You scored a winner!

Sharp Shooters wife noticed a new trap gun combo in Sharp Shooters later - the garage one day and asked how much was that new gun. Sharp shooter then had to sell a couple of his nice guns to pay for the new combo……

Well not to rain on your parade buddy but I could not give up that Pigeon for a Ceasar Linguine as our mutual friend Vic refers to them as...:p

Just teasing...hope you shoot a bunch of 100 straights with that new combo and giving me the opportunity to finally own the Holy Grail Model 12 I've wanted for 35+ years!

Frank, the post op pain from hernia surgery is severe for a few days. I had the same surgery a month ago and my guess is that model 12 would have likely provided me with greater relief than the morphine did. By the way, did you get the hernia from loading all those geese from that last hunt of the season?

Hahaha, yes that could have been the cause for sure. I had this surgery a year ago in October and it needed to be redone. Hopefully it holds this time around. Going under the knife isn't my favorite pastime, lol.

Somebody like you needed to enjoy it. I enjoyed being the curator of it for a while, time to let somebody else have the pleasure of preserving it.

It was brought to my attention by a few people on another site I had posted an incorrect date of MFG and after some searching it would appear that is the case based on George Madis' book and Winchesters' website. The gun was made in 1961 not 1964 as originally posted. I have corrected and updated the thread title accordingly.
