Hey guys

Do you think this new Wilson Combat's 30th Anniversary Classic 130 Master Grade Presentation Pistol is worth the money they are asking for?

They listed MSRP at $6,995.00 US.

Will this gun retain and increase in value in 10 years from now??

Thanks

Granted that does look like one of the nicest 1911's on the planet...10 years from now they'll release the 40th anniversary gun and it might be really really nice and bring down the value of yours, then you'll think you could have bought 3 new; non-anniversary guns and been shooting them and enjoying them for the past ten years instead of staring at that anniversary gun and wishing you could shoot it. ...just my 2 cents

Yes I think it will maintain its value.:) A real nice looking and working like that will fetch about 1500 or so on the exchange.

MSRP is US$6995.00
$1500 or so is hardly maintaining value.

If the interest rate on GICs doesn't change, you could earn about 4% per year, compounded for 10 years. $7000 invested at 4% would compound to about $10360 in that time.
Do you really think that pistol would appreciate at that rate?
What is the likelihood of being able to sell the pistol for that price?
If you were to use it, would a used pistol appreciate at the same rate as a new one?
I would suggest that this pistol would be an extremely poor investment.
Might be a nice, very expensive 1911 type, but its not something that you are likely going to make money on.

As most astute investors realize....just about ANYTHING that has "anniversary",
"limited edition", etc, stamped all over it, is very unlikely to appreciate, never mind even keep, it's usually inflated price.
Guns, cars, stamps, etc, that actually do increase in value rarely are touted as such when they are first released.
I think that you're getting the drift that there's not much concensus that this would be a good place to 'park' your money and expect a good return on it.
tiriaq has the best advice it your goal is 'wealth enhancement'!

I agree. A gun unused is a useless gun..... then again, I buy em to shoot em.
