They seriously look like someone bolted a barrel to a pair of crutches, but whatever spackles your crack i guess

I agree that it looks different than say a conventional McMillan/H-S Precision stock but they are getting rave reviews south of the border.

My concern with this particular rifle is that since the barrel isn't supported at all and with the chunk of steel on the end of his barrel, that guys barrel is going bump up against the scope because of the muzzle wip. I could be wrong but I'd be putting a slightly higher set of rings on that scope.

That barrel isn't going to "whip" any more than any free floated barrel in a conventional stock. The big chunk of steel looks to be a brake, and that is going to reduce recoil and "whip".

I like the open forend.. :)

However, I have concerns about the bedding and the stress this will put on the action.

There is zero bedding around the recoil lug. There better be contact on the rear of that lug or else all the recoil forces are going into the action screws.

The torque most certainly is being transfered to the action screws.

Also, with a muzzle brake, the negative G's are completely sent to the action screws.

Then there is the very large amount of bending force on the rear action screw and action.

They may be the rage but there are a number of design features that don't turn me on.

I certainly agree that routing all those cut outs would have been much easier done in Industrial Cross Laminated Sheeting. Like that Jamie?

2bad4u2, I bet the car looked much more rustic after the race. Datsun? Skoda? Yours or just something off the net?

That is one ugly stock! But form should follow function. If it holds zero, I could live with the looks. My $0.02

I think its a great idea but I won't be buying one. They look extremely easy to make with a CNC mill, I bet any major stock maker could make the same thing in their existing equipment with little effort. As far as the no bedding comment goes, that's the same as a factory stock, they aren't bedded. I would certainly bed anything worth shooting though. The butt stock to mid section junction looks a little weak to me and the F class mod thing is upside down in the first post in this topic. It wouldn't make for a very nice cheekrest.

Agreed, they should have made some sort of housing for the recoil lug area. I am really intrigued by the concept of a machined stock. Looks neat.

They may look like a set of wayward aluminum crutches but.................. the system works well. Everything fits like it should. Rifle shoots as well as it did in a properly bedded HS stock. Barrel cools a lot faster without it being shrouded. Adjustable LOP, pad adjustable for offset, cheek piece {LOL!} and bag rider are adjustable as well. 100% contact with the recoil lug at the back where it counts. Available in most colors or paint it yourself. All aluminum with allen head bolts where required. This stock has no frills and is all about function!
Got mine yesterday, pleased as punch!
