I got an old beat up 303 from my uncle and i decided to try refinishing it, this is how it turned out.

I reblued the action,bolt and barrel.I also sanded down the stocks and restained and sealed them.

Looks great and nice you're keeping it in your family. Nothing slicker and handier than a sporter MKIII I say.

Nice job! I'd put a brass marking disk in that hole in the butt. They're to be found on ebay and member PBLATZ I believe sells blank repros with screw. Nice added touch.

A Canadian quarter coin will fit that butt hole(???) too. Retain with a blob of silicone.

Nice...renaissance gun!...as WWII veterans made their way back to civilian life their rifle did the same...
I am working on a similar project...I went for a monte carlo butt...I never liked the ergonomic of the LE... specially with a see-through scope mount...face to butt contact is poor in my opinion...M1 Garand is the best... for me.
