Wikipedia has an article, designed prior to 1890, Crackshot 26 model was made 1912-1943.

Neat little rifles captive screw on the bottom to take the barrel off the reciever to pack smaller.

Open the breech and peer down that barrel to see what is in there - it might still be fit to fire. I have a couple later versions of similar - Stevens Favourite - one is Model 1915 and other is earlier version of that. I cleaned these up, and have been firing them with CCI Quiets, although I can not confirm what modern .22 ammo has lowest pressure - likely the .22 ammo from those days used black powder, and probably corrosive priming compound until circa 1930's - so could be a mess in there, if it was never cleaned.

SAAMI (Sporting Arms and Ammunition Makers Institute) was not formed until mid 1920's - so perhaps 30 years after your rifle was designed or made - so whatever SAAMI publishes now as a pressure standard for .22 rimfire, likely does not mean much for those old ones.

Cool old gun. Don't shoot typical "high velocity" 22lr in it (1200+fps stuff, which will include most cheap/bulk ammo), stick to standard velocity (1000fps-ish).

Send'er'ear.

I'll looky after'err.

First thing I'd do is remove thet thar nahhzee schticker.

Skwerrleez gawn blind.............tee-hee................................:nest:
