What is the H80HT heat treatment? What is the difference between this and reular heat treatment?

**Edit: The Barrel and other parts on Smith Crazy Horse recieve it.

M80HT from SEI

What is the H80HT heat treatment?

I asked Ron Smith to put the answer to your question in his own words...

Ron Smith:

M80HT is a surface hardening process that we use that will give a 60 Rockwell case hardness to about .002 to .003 and this goes over the 38 Rockwell through hardened stainless steel MIL-SPEC gas cylinder and plugs and now that is double heat treated and is now bullet proof and corrosion resistant and almost wear proof.
That's why this stuff from us cost what it cost and as you know we are always looking at new technology.

i had wanted to order a troy chassis and some smith ent stuff from LAW on the other site he advertises on.... even if i went through questar.... got no love cuz i'm canadian.... even with a u.s. address. Hope he changes his policy if he's gonna re run the m14e2, canadians will be looking to buy

I'm not sure about the legalities of shipping across the border - I hope something can be worked out for you guys.

Is that bottom stock modified for the under-rail, or is that stock manufactured somewhere?

That is the now defunct Rigid Rail Modification (RRM). It pulls down on the front band for a tighter fit and it does increase accuracy.

well, today I handled the troy m14 chassis, fully rigged and carrying a springfield Socom action. I am very impressed to say the least. If I was in the market for a full machined aluminum tactical assault m14s .... forget the sage stock....... the troy stock is the way to go.
not for hunters though .... well , maybe zombie hunters :D
