Has anyone happened to see the "NEW" revamped reloading data site?

Man its Different!

The old site let you choose a caliber, bullet weight and then several different powder combo's to be able to compare different powders to speeds, etc. Gave you a bunch of options to compare stuff together.

The new site only allows one bullet weight, powder combination and will only list one load. Hard to be able to compare a bunch of powders all together at the same time across several types, IMR, Hodgdon, Winchester like powders like before.

I won't edit my first thoughts I had and run in I had, but will add that I played with it a bit more, and it seems that it will be as much as if not more info as before. Just a new layout to get used to. I added more info about this in my post lower down, after I had a chance to play with it more.

Ah, nevermind. It does suck now, yup. They have put out some pretty sketchy data in the past which had me avoiding them for a long while now. I don't know how many rounds of 10mm I ran only to find out that data was pushing 50,000+psi. I wondered why I would break slide stops and frame pins in different guns... It all made sense after that.

You don't use a chrono? Pretty helpful tool in load development.

the UI is annoying and the usability is low
but one can still compare many loads by clicking on the "add selection" button
the annoying thing is that one needs to select the cartridge, bullet and powder all over again
bad design
there could be at least a "filter the list" field above all selections

edit: I contacted them on this issue. Hope they react (perhaps if more people complain)

This is not entirely true. If you click "Get Load Data" before selecting all the variables it still gives a big list. Eg If you just select the Caliber, then "Get Load Data" it gives you everything, you can then narrow that down how you see fit.

Examples: I selected just 7mm-08. It gives me 371 loads. Add a filter for 140gr bullets, drops it to 34 loads. Add IMR powders and I'm down to 8 loads.

So you can only filter by a single variable at a time, but you don't HAVE TO filter by that variable. The old way was better from an ease of use perspective, but the data is all there. Plus with Add Selection you can still do anything you could do before I would think?

If a bunch of us complain they might bring back the ability to select multiple bullet weights or powders from the lists, rather than only letting you pick one.

I saw it. They want to sell their books and software rather than give it away.

I don't have access to the old system, so I can't compare data from one to the other, but I would strongly suspect the underlying data used to build the sites are the same. The old system was slightly easier to use, especially if you wanted to look at data for multiple bullet weights at the same time, but it hardly seems to be forcing anyone to buy a book to get the data IMO.

Okay,

I had a chance to play with it some more. Def a bit slower than the "old site" was. If you just select the caliber, and then get load data it shows the complete list of all bullets, with the powders under each one. Very comparable to the "old" way.

If you just select the caliber, and bullet weight, again it lists all the powder under that specific bullet type, and will show a separate table, but still at the same time the powders.

I guess it is the same, just have to get used to the different tweeks they did, and the new layout.

Even have a new list when they changed the primers. For example 6.5 CM, 142 gr Sierra bullet. Two lists, one using winchester LR and one using Federal LR.

Maybe it will be better than before, with updated data with less mistakes. Just have to get used to the new layout.

Thanks "Suther" for letting us see its potential, just have to get used to the new layout, and new tweeks.

I just checked out the new program & with only the one choice of powder it takes longer as you have to go back & forth to the selected opening page.

Just don't select a powder. Then you get all options available at the same time for your selected bullet weight. Same can be done with bullet weight.

The key here is that you don't HAVE TO select anything from each box. It seems like a lot of people are approaching this from the perspective that you NEED to select something from each box but that simply is not the case, the only one that NEEDS to be selected before you can click on the "Get Load Data" button is the cartridge.

Thanks Suther, That makes it a lot easier.:d

I do, the velocity tracked just fine and nothing unusual popped up. It doesn't change anything about the situation. They just changed the load one day, dropping the max charge about 20% and I noticed, then after running the old one through a loading program it all made sense. Mistakes happen but I don't bother with their data anymore.

Didn't say they were forcing anything. I said they would rather sell their products than post it all free. Nobody is forced to buy their product when there are plenty of other options.

Thanks, it worked for me!
