I am thinking of putting a red dot on my Glock 32 ( after the Christmas Visa bill gets paid lol..). The slide is not optic ready so it would need to be milled. Doing a web search I cam across Black Block out of Calgary I believe. My question is for anyone who has used them.

1) Are you happy with their work/price ?
2) Can I just mail them my slide ?

Thanks for all info in advance

I’ve used them before for cerakote work. No issues and they’re really good at communicating.

If you have any questions just email them and they’ll get back to within a day or two.

They’re also a sponsor here have a look at their forum and they post pictures of their work.

I've been in their shop several times and the level of workmanship I see on their products is outstanding. Personally I would have no qualms about having them work on any of my guns.

My friend has had two of her M&P slides cut there and the work is stellar, nothing to worry about with Blackbox they do truly excellent work.

I've only had cerakote work done by Black Box, on 5 or 6 firearms. They are very professional in maintaining contact via email and shipping. I was very happy with the work and will use them again.

I had a Zev duty slide milled and tapped to accept a closed emitter red dot and a couple of Cerakote jobs done and echoing the other feedback above, they are fantastic. Great workmanship and their customer service is on point.

They also offer a military discount on services, but not parts, and FWIW, they employ veterans, which does mean something to me.

The only 'bad' press I heard about them, was their Rule' is to Verify your PAL for any 'unregulated' parts purchases.

I've had 2 Glocks customized by BBC - with plans to get a 3rd worked on in 2024. The most recent build had an RMR mounted directly to a machined slide.

Their workmanship is fantastic and customer service is great. I will use them again.

They are not inexpensive, but I think the price is commensurate with the outcome. I think we're lucky to have Blackbox in Canada and a similar quality build in the US would be much more expensive.

I've had a bit of work and bought stuff direct from Blackbox and they have been fantastic. Will definitely continue to do business with them.

However, with that said:

You may want to consider getting another slide already milled and finished from the aftermarket through someone like Blackbox or Brownells.

I was faced with considerable custom work on both a G48 and G21 Gen3 to get them equipped with MRDS, and ended up ordering through Brownells the Alpha Shooting Sports Marksman V4 Slide for a G21 and RMRCC Slide for the G48. Landed it was ~$750 cad all in. Order went in Oct 20 and arrived through Canada Post today (Dec. 11).

The G48 Slide is pretty vanilla with basic features - vertical front and rear slide serrations and black nitrated finish, while the G21 slide appears like a full custom slide with front and rear angled slide serrations, lightening milled portions and lightening cuts on the sides and top.
I'm going to convert the other G21 slide to 10mm with a Fire Dragon barrel and both will be getting stipple and undercut framework through BB.

Just had a Glock 21 slide done by Black Box (slide serrations, tri-top cut, milled for red dot and cerakote). The communication was great throughout the process and the work was excellent. I would definitely recommend them.

Just curious - what did all of that end up costing, if you don't mind me asking?
