New for 2021 is the Mossberg International Gold Reserve series of over-under shotguns. Mossberg International, a subsidiary of the Mossberg Corporation launched in 2002, is poised to provide an upper-level series of hinge-action, over-under shotguns under the International moniker.

Mossberg International Gold Reserve
The Gold Reserve series over over-under shotguns are well-appointed and feature-rich break-action shotguns that include three sub-models at time of unveiling: Sporting, Black Label Sporting (blued receiver) and Super Sport. All three models feature 3” chambers, regardless of gauge; .410 Bore, 20- and 12-ga. will be offered.

The boxlock over-under Gold Reserve line offers shooters competition-ready guns that are optioned for 28” or 30” chrome-lined steel barrels and threaded. Five extended chokes are supplied. Mossberg International supplies a 10 mm-wide sighting rib with a front bead for reference. Gold Reserve Sporting guns provides a polished, silver-colored receiver with engraved accents. The gun’s safety and barrel selector are mounted along the receiver tang below the top lever. Once open, a set of ejectors attached to the monobloc are activated. Jeweling within the action is supplied, too, which adds visual flair and increases functionality.

These latest boxlock shotguns feature distinctive scroll patterns and 24-carat gold inlay on the receiver’s bottom. Included is hand-picked, black walnut furniture, Grade-A with a satin finish, that exhibits sought-after grain structure and figure to provide target shooters and hunters with form, function and curb appeal. Cut checkering along the wrist and fore-end are also added for comfort and control. The Gold Reserve guns feature a near-vertical grip that is designed for optimum hand placement for speedy target acquisition.

Mossberg International Gold Reserve Super Sport
The break-action Gold Reserve Super Sport models will feature the same Grade-A black walnut the series is known to provide with enhancements tailored specifically to the top-tier competitive shooter. The Super Sport buttstock houses components that enable shooters to customize fit. An adjustable comb is supplied, along with a mechanical length-of-pull adjustment, 13” to 15”. Cast adjustments may also be made. Mossberg supplies a fiber-optic front sight and 30” chrome-lined steel barrels here, too.

They look like a nice option for getting into OU'S I wonder what retail/street pricing will be here. In my experience Mossbergs tend to sell for a bit less than MSRP but who know with the current market. If any dealers have these incoming feel free to send me a PM I'll pick up a gold reserve supersport if the price is right.

I find the 14” LOP odd and if you are selling target guns, 32” barrels should be an option.

The 14" lop is on the fixed length stock models except the youth model which is 13.25" and there is a fully adjustable stock model with 2" adjutable lop from 13"-15" and an adjustable comb. In my opinion why buy one that isn't adjustable? Adjustable stocks make resale so much easier and are the only way to go as far as I'm concerned.

Like others, I question the 14 inch LOP and 30 inch barrels. Since pre mounting the gun was allowed in sporting a number of years ago we've seen stock lengths getting longer and I know several guys with LOP's over 15 inches. And most of these guys won't even consider 30 inch barrels. On the other hand, the guys I'm thinking of probably wouldn't consider purchasing this gun anyway and lean more toward the traditional tried and true manufacturers but for the once in a while shooter this might be the ticket. Certainly the Super Sport with it's adjustable LOP is practical but it's certainly not ascetically pleasing. Also, 7.5 lbs in a target gun is on the light weight end of things when most target guns are 8 to 9 lbs. Overall it's a good looking gun though and very Citori like with it's locking lug under the mono block and no Schnabel fore end on the super sport is a definite plus for me. It will be interesting to see how they stand up!

Will be there if the show goes on will have a nice selection of the new products Over/Unders, 940 JM Pro, the New Patriot LR Hunter and lots more...

I wonder which manufacturer is making them. One would imagine the quality is heavily dependant on who is actually producing them. The receiver of the gold reserve kind of looks like it may be an Akkar.

I've been looking for the gold reserve sporting 12G (one with adjustable butt and comb) for awhile now and can't find anyone in Canada that is carrying them. Any leads?

You can always contact IRUNGUNS, a site sponsor that can locate purchase & import from the USA.

I may be one of the only shooters in Canada to own one. Purchased private sale. I just just looked it up on the side of the barrel and the firearm is made in Turkey by Khan/Kayhan. I shoot mostly skeet and when I tried out this firearm on a trap field, I shot 13/15 and that convinced me right away. The butt and comb are fully adjustable and overall it's a great looking firearm. In fact, when it was sitting in the gun rack, it had lots of eyes looking at it and a few a few shooters asked to handle it. Naturally, I complied. It comes with a bunch of chokes and uses Benelli Mobil chokes if you're looking for more chokes. Many shooters turn their nose up at firearms made in Turkey. Keep in mind that Mossberg has been around for over 100 years and that says something about the specs they require from offshore manufacturers. Don't knock the stuff from Turkey until you own it. My only wish about this shotgun is that it has ejectors instead of extractors. Otherwise, it's a beauty and functions very well. When the supply chain fills the retailers shelves, I think it will be very well received by the shooting community. I'm happy I purchased it and intend to shoot it for many years to come.
