1945 Long Branch Sniper Rifle

Perhaps Colin can do one for the Trade Pattern Sniper and the 80L experimental sniper with the C67 scope?

as a side note, what are these rifles going for if one was to start looking for a sniper rifle?

There is one currently listed on ####### for $14,500.

There was another one listed recently for $16,000 but it disappeared. It wasn't listed as sold so not sure what happened with it.

You can build a nice replica for around $3000. Thats what I did. :).

There is a replica listed on ####### for $2500 but the thing has an artillery spotting scope installed ... so no elevation / windage turrets.

Last year a pretty nice replica sold for approx $1700, which seemed way too low, but there you go.

- British Rifle with Mis-Matched Scope, Transit Chest, Scope Case = $7500 CAD
- British Rifle with Matching Scope, Transit Chest and Scope Case = $10K-12K CAD

- Canadian Rifle with Mis-Matched Scope, Transit Chest, Scope Case = $10K CAD
- Canadian Rifle with Matched Scope, Transit Chest and Canadian Scope Case = $15K CAD

All prices are approximate, depending on the condition of the Rifle, Optic and Accessories.

A few months ago I saw a replica priced for $7400 at Calgary Shooting Centre.

That price almost triple the norm, regardless of the included accessories, so I reckon CSC must have applied a healthy profit margin to their purchase price. As they say, there is a sucker born every minute... No rifle with a repro optic is worth more than $3500 CAD IMHO, and the particular repro set-up that I am thinking of had a "Matched" repro Scope with full Canadian markings, a very well-constructed repro Transit Chest, and so forth. It was immaculate from tip to butt, and was still only realistically worth $3400 CAD....

There is a big difference between "worth" and "cost."

I have approx $3200 into my faux No4(T) and that is just the rifle, no accessories. It is possible to build one for less, I'd guess maybe between $2000 to $2500 on the bottom end, but that would take some effort.

FWIW I wasn't trying to build a "replica". I just wanted a scoped LE and didn't like the look of the modern no-gunsmithing mounts and optics. The rifle just looks better with a No32 scope. The price kind of got away from me a bit but the rifle sure did turn out nicely. :)

I'm still waffling on the addition of the middle sling swivel. Not sure if I really need that part.

Ouch, I guess for that price they are strictly collector items and not being used any more? I'm the type that would have a hard time not using it, after all that is what it was made for. Mine would get regular usage and love.

I guess I'll just have to keep my eyes peeled for a deal.

Well, I for one cannot resist firing the 'used" Rifles that I own. If a vintage firearm happens to be unissued, such as my Long Branch 1950 No 4 Mk1*, then I may choose to leave it unmolested. In the case of my Matched Long Branch 1945 No 4 Mk 1* (T), I could not resist firing the unit to confirm collation and zero. I have also let certain appreciative friends have a go, with a retired Master Sniper managing hits on IPSC steel out to 800m! That Scoped Rifle set me back $15K..., but then so did the Tikka action in a KRG Whiskey Chassis with Nightforce ATACR glass that I fire all of the time..

I have since acquired a repro Taiwanese No 32 Scope for casual live fire with the No 4 Mk 1* (T) Rifle, thus preserving and protecting the genuine, matched No 32 Scope from harm.
