I'm planning on buying a CZ 457, for shooting off the bench right now but who knows where that'll lead?

I thought I wanted the MTR but I'm not into the look of that stock, it's just not for me. I'm now considering the AT-One with the 20" Match chamber. It's hard to find reviews of these because most reviewers are American and are reviewing the 16" non-match chamber guns.

Is it safe to assume that they both have the same accuracy potential given that they appear to be the same gun, just different stock?
Anyone have ideas or opinions on these options?

Stock is something you can easily switch... and my experience tells me the you will... no matter which one of these you buy now :)

Action and the barrel (with match chamber) is what you are after, and this is a great choice. I am pretty happy with my CZ 457 MTR. At some point I had to do some woodworking on my MTR stock to make it sit better in my hand... but I ended up switching to a MDT chassis.

Have 16 and 20 bought MTR chassis .... nice upgrade ..... buy the match ..... have heard bad things about the boyds ... but second hand info is not always correct ...

Yes, same accuracy. Mine has the match chamber and the factory CZ457 At One stock is a special version of Boyd’s. I didn’t like the style of the MTR stock, and I wanted something I could play with for rimfire PRS. When I bought this, the MDT XRS version was available, but I don’t like the FDE colour. If they had black available back then, I’d have gone with MDT.

I found scope mounting with a big scope to require a bit of fiddling. I bought the Apex scope for PRS, and used a one piece mount so I could move it to my centerfire PRS rifles. It’s a touch tall for my liking, but built up the cheek riser to fit. The Area 419 scope rail is a bit short, and so you can see where I put the mount to make the eye relief work.

Nice thing about a solid wood stock is it’s easy to flatten the stock to bolt up an Arca rail. It was a cheapie from Amazon.

Stock specific things:

- it has action pillars in it! The generic Boyd doesn’t.
- this variant has more wood compared to the generic Boyd (grip area and bottom of the front stock). It feels nice in my hands.
- the adjustability is another plus for sharing with others. Adjustability is very limited though. I own two MDT ACCs and the thumb wheels are missed here, as is the lack of range.

It is accurate though. I’ve successfully done the 50m 1/2” challenge with it.

Thanks for the info everyone.

I ended up ordering both the At-One 20" Match Chamber and the 20" MTR. We'll see which one I prefer once I have them both in my hands.

Jimbo14, you hit the nail on the head! I prefer the styling of the At-One stock over the MTR and will probably get involved in PRS later down the road.
Your setup is pretty much what I'm looking for, so I'm very appreciative of the tips you've provided about the stock!

My biggest concern was that I was overlooking something major when comparing these two models. But they have the same action, same barrel, same match chamber... just different stocks by the looks of it.

I just ordered this rifle and Area 419 rail - which mount are you using?

Do you think a one piece mount is better than individual rings?

Thanks

See what you think of the MTR once you hold it in your hands, I love mine and have it set up for PRS - weights, 16" arca rail, cheek riser etc... The MTR is also pillar bedded, not sure about the AT 1. I like it so much for PRS I have decided not to upgrade to an XRS as I had planned - I have an XRS on another rifle, so I know how it is an awesome chassis and still like my MTR.

I’m using a Nightforce with 20moa built in. My Area 419 rail has 30moa. With this combo, and the Apex zeroed at 50m, I have 25.7 mils of elevation left to dial. Plenty.

I like the 1-piece mount so I can move this around from rifle to rifle easily, until I get more cash to dedicate a scope to this rifle.
