The eighth wonder of the world, the Garmin Xero C1 Pro chronograph

Garmin products have always been MAP/MRP and they control sale prices. A company cannot put a Garmin product on sale without permission from Garmin.

Well I ordered one, Only found it in stock at one retailer when looking, looks like most places are sold out or backorder. I did see two places that were listed above the $799 in my search, and they were also both sold out. With the popularity of these and our ####e dollar I wouldn't be surprised if the MAP is raised on these in the future.

I had a tricky time, they all say in stock on a Google search but when you go to the site they were out of stock, maybe I wasn't looking in the right spots.

Nechako showed stock when I looked.
Corlanes had stock, was just in there.

Okay, was finally out again today, and purposefully let the power run out, right until shut down. That was hard actually. I went to the range with about 25% or less power in it. I ran over 100 shots, from 12:30 until 2:17. Was on my last 5 rounds that I had at the range, and still had power. Sat for 20 min and fiddled with all the things that I could to get it to power out. This thing lasts for ever.
After plugging it in, I ran my last 5 rounds I had left, no problems plugged in. When I came home, after running a few errands, 1.5 hrs later, I was at 92% already. I had it plugged in with my battery pack while running around.
So, this thing takes for ever to run dry on juice, and is a VERY quick recharge time. Plus has no problems working while plugged in.

Did I say how much I love this thing!

I finally got out yesterday to try the Garmin on my handguns. According to the instructions for handguns, you just hold the firearm 5 to 15 inches directly above the unit. It worked flawlessly. Never misssd a shot.

I had never chrony’ed handguns before with all of the chronographs that I’ve owned over the years. I must say that the data on my loads was right about where I thought they should be.

What surprised me was the differences with the same loads in different guns. For instance, my Charter Arms Undercover revolver in .38spl with a 4.25” barrel chrony’ed at 945fps and 247.8 FT-LBS of energy. Whereas my big Smith & Wesson 686-6 revolver with a 6” barrel showed 924fps with 237.3 FT-LBS of energy (with exactly the same bullet and powder charge).

That was very interesting indeed. You would think the longer barrel would be quicker. But the little Charter Arms is a snappy revolver to shoot. And to out perform the big Smith & Wesson target gun surprised me.

I was also surprised at the speed and energy of my CZ P10F full size duty pistol in 9mm. My load showed 1058fps with 308.1 FT-LBS of energy. No wonder law enforcement use these pistols. I had no idea of the energy a 124gr bullet had either in all my years of loading.

So just another thing the Garmin does very well.

Had mine for over a month now, works flawlessly and the phone app too. Everything the LR claimed it would be but never delivered. And the thing is freaking tiny!

Myself as well - thank you.

While using it the other day at the range I was also loaded for a new ladder test on the 6.5CM. Ran out of my 139 Lapua bullets and have 500 pcs of the 140 gr Nosler RDF I figured I would shoot up.

I never used a chrony for ladder work before, and it made finding a node quick and easy. Also showed that my new load, with different powder, different primer, and 1 gr heavier bullet is going to be about 90 fps slower than my 139 gr scenar bullets are running. Next trip out I will load 1 or 2 with the powder I'm currently running out on and see if I get the faster speed. Just because now I have a chrony! See if it is the primers, or the powder, or a combination of the two that is making things slower.

For laddering to find a node, believe what the target says. The chrono is to confirm you're not getting into dangerous velocity territory, or to find you're slow enough that you could go hunt the next node upward.

Tried with my 22lr and pellet gun over the holidays at camp. Sat it on the tunnel cover of my truck. Break action pellet gun advertised at under 500fps. Read every shot / average 430fps +-5fps. 22lr every shot as i expected. What a joy!
