Should shooting a minimum number of matches per year be a requirement for all and any level of oversight within IPSC??

Should we be ruled by ROs and board members who are not in fact IPSC competitors??

An inquiring mind would like to know.

To be honest, isn't this a valid concern?

Yes, I know this type of question has the potential to sink quickly into finger pointing, but the question is a valid one.

Not a problem in our Section. Our board is comprised of people that shoot most of the matches in the section. Also everyone at our Level II and higher events have to work. So the official compete at every event.

Oh and I would be REALLY interested in your IPSC cv.......inquiring minds want to know.

Specifically.

How many matches have you shot?

How many stages have you designed?

How many stages have you built?

How many Matches have you been MD?

How many Matches have you been R/O, CRO, or RM?

How many Matches have you spent hours putting in the stats?

How many BB courses have you assited in?

How many BB courses have you ran?

(of course all of the above questions apply due to the relative annonimity of the net, if I knew who you were I would probably not have to ask).

Now.......to the question at hand. There are some individuals who have VAST by that I mean EXTREME experience in shooting IPSC and actually doing some of the activities listed above. In my mind they act as quasi "senators".

Similarly in my home club I am DEFACTO Director........as Past President. I am not elected as such I am just Director as the most current past President. It is hoped (maybe wrongly) that my experience can help guide the current board.

If you have a specific concern it would be much better to bring that into the open instead of these shadow games.

Good post, Storm -

I'm really surprised you mods let him remain based on his post history.

His "discussion" threads are doing nothing to advance the shooting sports, they've only been innuendo and pot shots at people doing volunteer work.

He hasn't shown that he has anything positive to add to this forum, he just comes on to infer slurs on others.

Some disgruntled individual who's afraid to go face to face with the people he has a problem with at the proper forum (an AGM) so he posts here anonymously hoping for other anonymous comments to back him up...sounds like grounds for a punt for me.

When was the last time you shot in a match ??:D

So what or who is the problem? I have not been an IPSC member for a few years, so forgive me if I'm out of date here. When I used to compete, I'd worked my way up to CRO and had participated in a dozen or so BB courses. The gripe at the time wasn't that RO's were not competitors. It was that either the RO's shot on Thursday and god forbid a stage would need to be altered or tossed later on, or the RO's were to busy or tired to shoot or shoot well.

So what's the beef now?
