Sauer 100 Fieldshoot Sales

I can just guess here, but I imagine 300Win in the standard OEM stock is probably pretty stout lol.
It's pretty stout in most rifles regardless of the rifle maker, generally though it's tolerable to most shooters, not something you would sit behind on a bench and shoot all day, but for hunting situations, not a problem. Really fantastic cartridge all around.
Got to load for and shoot a buddies 300UltraMag this fall, Rem 700 Sendaro, fairly heavy rifle, recoil was noticeably different to any regular normal rifles people shoot lol. Not unbearable, but it definitely takes a second or too after get your bearings.
 
Last summer, I had an opportunity to zero two new Sako S20 rifles in 300WM - with 200gr ELD-X and 180gr Super Hammerhead. Surprisingly, recoil was very manageable, didn't particularly care for the overall rifle design, nevertheless, I felt the stock ergonomic reduced felt recoil considerably.

Ordered a Pantera in 308. Might get a Fieldshoot in 308 as well.

I have an Sig SHR/STR 970 that these are similar to. The reason I like 308 other than it’s a great overall cartridge and very easy to find match ammo or reload for, is its barrel life. The 970 is a switch barrel rifle. But good luck finding barrels and caliber conversions. These European rifles just don’t seem to have the support here in North America.

Although the Sauer 100 barrel is threaded into the receiver rather than press/heat fit, it will still be a pain to replace the barrel. 6.5 CM etc are barrel burners.

Very cool looking rifles and at current sale pricing they seem like a decent bargain. Looking forward to checking these out.

Looked at the S20. Precision stock looked a bit TRG like, which is a good thing. Reading review, the stock like the Tikka UPR is trg like but plasticy. Also read about some feeding issues with the S20. At over 2k.. same with the UPR, I passed. Another one that had my interest was the CZ 600. Hard pass after they disabled the switch barrel function. Also accuracy in the reviews looked fairly mediocre. Shame because the CZ had a lot of ssg 3000 features.

Would like to hear more about the S20 as it is a competitor to the Sauer 100. I initially did want the precision stocked version.
 
I have one in 6.5 Creed. Amazing rifle, excellent accuracy. VERY ERGONOMIC. Takes a REM LA picatinny rail. Would I pay full price? No I would not.

Last time I checked the deer or target don't care what the gun looks like. I think next time I take mine out shooting I'll surround my self with mirrors to see if it really is not worth the extreme ergonomics. I mean ...if it is that ugly what if someone saw me with it? That could be embarrassing.

Looks great! Is the end of the barrel threaded? Some write ups say it is, others don’t say anything.
 
When speaking of threaded barrels on Sauer rifles most people are referring to the fact that the barrels are threaded to the receiver not press fit as some of their models are.

Yes, however the pantera model is also threaded for a muzzle brake. Some reports said the Fieldshoot is threaded for a muzzle device while others omit this.
 
I see the question was answered but yes the muzzle is threaded and does include a factory protector. There is however no muzzle brake included with the rifle. Atleast mine did not.

I finally had some time to drag mine out today for a session. It shoots, it's very comfortable off the bench, very well thought out stock design, zero complaints with this rifle.

I have an Sig SHR 970 that’s sort of a predecessor. Will be interesting to compare them.

How’s the action for smoothnesss?

Little stiff to #### due to the 60 degree throw, but smooth as butter back and forth and closing.

Real Fudds don't craddle such fugglyness in their arms............best to stray away from Fudds, or you'll be judged.;)

Pantera 20” 308 showed up the other day. The Fieldshoot as well but haven’t opened the box yet for that one.

The 20” pantera is fairly agile with the 20” fluted barrel. Also looks to be a medium profile rather than the heavy Fieldshoot. The stock is the same except it’s painted black ( Vietnam Rolling Stones style!) . It’s extremely similar to the SHR 970. From the 3 lug bolt which almost look interchangeable but aren’t. Yes I checked. To the 3 position safety and in my case both have similar fluted barrels. I like it. No regrets.

I do however have to agree with some of the other posters. Great rifles at these blow out prices. Would I pay full price? Nope. But for what I paid, they were a good deal and nice rifles. Looking forward to scoping them and trying them out. LA 700 rails are next in the list.

Which ring heights did you guys find worked best? Looking at 56mm objective and 50mm. Thinking 1.18- 1.26?
