I've never heard of Tanfoglio before and their website is awful. Can anyone tell me more about the Tanfoglio Stock II vs. the CZ75 SP-01? I've tried a CZ75 and CZ75 Tactical Sport so know that I like the ergonomics of the CZ75. I'm looking at reliability, accuracy and ergonomics compared to the SP-01 for use in IPSC Production. Any advantages with going with one or the other?

I'll go with CZ any day. They've been around forever and you're getting what you pay for. Those Tans are ridiculously priced and they're pretty much copies of the CZ anyway. Never understood the concept. And yes I own CZ's, just older ones.

my stock II is every bit as accurate as my SP01,both guns feel pretty much the same, neither has had any feed or reliability concerns at all,I have only been shooting them at 20 yards so far but the reason I bought a Stock II is because I watched J.S. shoot a 3-4" group at 50m last year and I wanted something a little different , and the barrel in the stock II is almost as big as the one in my Edge.

IIRC the mags for the Tang are better. I remember reading that some CZ shooters were trying to use the Tangfolio mags in thier CZs but that took them out of production because they are not factory offerings.

Some one chime in if my facts are wrong, I am going off memory and have no personal experience with either.

I really love my CZ but I believe Tanfoglio made better gun. It is a better CZ clone. More information can be found at czforum under the cz clone sesson.

Tangfolio makes OFM extended magazines ( basepads) and CZ doesn't.
So the CZ ( by IPSC production class rules) can't take advantage of the extended magazine.
But the CZ uses cut rifling and will shoot lead, the Tangfolio has polygonal rifling and depending on your opinion can't.
I haven't shot either but I handled a CZ Shadow yesterday and I liked it .
For the price a great gun.

If you are considering SP-01, go for the Shadow, price difference is minimal and you do get better sights.
How 'extended' of a magazine do you want? CZ makes 26 rnd mags, is it not enough? Cannot use them in Canada anyway.

I'm looking to shoot IPSC only in Canada so I guess 10 rounds will do. Will the Tanfoglio work cocked-and-locked so I can use it in Standard too?

there are pros and cons to both. I prefer my Tan over the CZ, but's a personal thing I guess.

Bingo! There are a lot of good guns out there and in the end it all depends on what little things work best for you. Might even be something like the styling of the gun.

I find the bottom of the sear and hammer contact on the Shadow to be nicer/cleaner than the tanfoglio,..it effects the DA, but has little effect on the SA break....both are good and side by side you can tell the difference, but on the line you would not be able to tell as well.
What the Tanfoglio has over the CZ is that the pre-travel in SA for the CZ is very long....lots of movement. The Tanfoglio pre-travel is not 1911'ish,,..but better and shorter than the Shadow. The mags on the Tanfoglio are better in stock form,...no doubt. Stock2 is a lot prettier than the Shadow as well. I find the slide to frame is better on the stock2. I like the Front sight fibre Optic on the CZ, much brighter..,..but the stock 2 has adjustable sights....
