7mm-6.5 PRCW

Well since the introduction of the 6.5 PRC, 300 PRC and now the 7mm PRC I have been a PRC junkie, amazing cartridges, accurate, easy to load for, now the 7-6.5 PRCW(Wheeler) is taking off in the PRS and F-Class open market, so I thought what the hell it will make a great hunting cartridge, simply a 6.5 PRC necked up to 7mm.....

On top of that ADG Brass is putting out Headstamped brass in the 1st 1/4 of 2024 !

So Ive ordered up a few parts for the new build and a Manson Reamer, were going to try a new action by Pure Precision (formerly Mesa Precision) the Pure Precision SKLTN which is very much like a Defiance Anti action only difference is the SKLTN has a 75 deg bolt throw instead of 90 deg and its a fair bit cheaper !

Pure Precision Short Action, Gunwerks Clymer Stock with Gunwerks bottom metal, Triggertech Special Trigger, 24 inch 1-8.5 twist 5R Cut rifled Benchmark Carbon Fiber wrapped Barrel.....

Excited about that brass. An that setup! Might have to hit you up to rent that reamer �� whenever I find a decent enough blank for my Tikka. Can’t wait to see the results in comparison to the 7 PRC.

I have about 80 pieces of gunwerks once fired 6.5 prc brass that I think would be perfect to neck up to 7.

I’m hoping to run 140 to 150gr solids around 3000 fps, Hornady CX, Barnes LRX or TTSX, nothing groundbreaking but will be interesting for sure.

I have to say the Clymer is one of the nicest hunting stocks I’ve ever shot off the bench.

I have Mitch working on a Defiance CRF build for myself. I was tempted by the Claymer but it's a bit too heavy fror what I was looking for so I went with a Wildcat and a pic rail section in the forend instead.

Pretty close in ballistics to the 284win with the added advantage of seating the bullets out longer in a short action. It sounds good to me!

I have Mitch working on a Defiance CRF build for myself. I was tempted by the Claymer but it's a bit too heavy fror what I was looking for so I went with a Wildcat and a pic rail section in the forend instead.

Your not wrong they are heavy 2lbs or more, If I didn’t get this stock I would have used a Wildcat and just had Mitch put a High Comb and Palm Swell on it, one thing about these Gunwerks, Manners etc stocks sure shortens up the build time, I’m not going to run a brake so a little extra weight works for me.

Yes pretty much the same as the .284 win, maybe a couple grains more, as Eric Cortina calls it a fat a$$ Shehane !

It WILL work FINE - Better FAST then Slow ! Those MONOs are a lot longer then Bonded or Cup & core bullets even in the Lighter weights ! RJ

I find it interesting you want to fly monos. When I think of monos, I think of velocity. In otherwards, I would neck down to shoot a mono and neck up to shoot a VLD. We both know there is no right or wrong, just different ways of looking at things. I wouldn't be hesitant to try those Hammer bullets...

Well I want to try mono’s but like most barrels you pretty much end up using what works, I tend to use more Accubonds than anything.
