Did I procrastinate too long on parts to keep my Glocks running?

I've been super busy lately and I think I missed the boat. I'm having trouble finding Gen 3 parts to have on hand to keep my Gen 3 Glocks going. I always planned to stock up "in case of the ban being made law". Then I procrastinated. I did buy a few blank slides a year ago but finding Gen 3 springs, even barrels, seems to be getting harder. Unfortunately, I don't have any Gen 4 or 5 frames.

All I'm seeing from my usual go-to shops is a little bit of Gen 4 and 5 stuff. I doubt frame parts kits are available anywhere. Anyone got some leads?

Some limited parts now need a gun licence to purchase, other then that there is no prohibition on parts....yet.

If you have a licence and a registered gen 3 glock, you should be able to use that licence to buy slides and barrels.... I don't believe springs require any licence but things are getting so convoluted it's hard to make any sense of what are gun laws are anymore.....

Whenever I have problems finding Glock parts in Canada I order through an importer, they bring in anything I need from Glock or aftermarket companies. Nothing has changed since the ban, if they have it in stock I just order off their site, if its out of stock or a new item they source it from me and it gets imported for me on their next scheduled import.

Try Brownell’s for handgun parts. They will ship any parts, outside of frame, barrel etc to Canada, as long as the value is under $500. I have ordered some Glock parts - CBSA always opens the box, but it passes through.
Anything that CBSA can somehow deem to be AR related is completely different. I believe they seize all of that? I have not ordered any AR stuff, so maybe someone else can chime in?

Haven't they been holding gun stuff, especially AR15 and pistol related lately?

I recently ordered optic ready Slides for a G21 and a G48 through Brownells. Order went in Oct 20 and arrived through Canada Post Dec. 11.
Package opened per their due diligence, and paid GST on the order.

I assume going forward they would run the purchasers information through the CFP to ensure the person importing the parts had an appropriate PAL, but I assume (maybe wrongly) they do that already.

Not in my experience. Never had a Brownell's order opened or seized by CBSA. All of them have included AR parts and handgun parts, including bolts, barrels, triggers, magazines, slides... recently, too. One within the past month. They just look at the Customs Declaration and attach a tariff invoice.

There are different ports of entry with different levels of stupidity..... best bet if your in a hurry is to pay extra and ship with a courier unless your lucky enough to be located in an area where the package passes through a more streamlined port of entry.

One option to consider is to just order a new gun on Irunguns. They will ship it with everything except the frame (unless it's a Sig P320, then they pull the full FCU, so you get no trigger or fire control parts)

I have a glock 21 and then a complete Glock 20 slide (incl. barrel, extractor, firing pin etc.) as well as 3x 10mm mags, trigger and all pins and other parts stripped off the frame.

Cost is whatever you find in USD + $25 to export + GST and shipping from Alberta.

Hmmm. I never thought of that. Seems like an expensive way to get spare parts.

Have you tried asking your LGS if they can bring the parts in? The parts themselves are still perfectly legal to buy/sell, I would think SOMEONE would be willing to get them for you...

The part of C21 that makes barrels and slides require a license is not in force until an OIC brings it into force, which could happen any day, or it could be delayed by years like some sections of C71 were (eg NR transfer stuff, that took like 3 years)

Why would one import the pieces of a handgun where there are loads of parts kits listed on #######? I'm sure one would have no trouble finding loads of guys willing to part out a handgun for a decent price.
