Stevens 334 Spare Magazine

I'm curious to hear what you think once you get your digits on one

Most days I'm glad that I live far from town and gun stores, some days it really sucks!
I think along the same lines as you Joel and really enjoy my budget rifles right alongside my others and I have nothing against the Turqua/335 and if it turns out great than that's a good thing.
Only time will tell if performance will be the same from rifle to rifle as one thing I do know for certain is Turkish QC is notoriously spotty.

Partial, I'm not trying to discredit you in any way. You now have two examples in hand to range test and evaluate and that's precisely two more than I ever had.
Give us a detailed range report and some high quality photos to get this ball rolling.

Blessing and a curse lol. They sure seem accurate. At the Stevens prices a real bargain too.

Just wouldn't personally compare em to pricier stuff is all.

You said in the other thread you received your Turquas from UPS yesterday, and after your range visit this morning you're proclaiming it a better deal than a Tikka at the same price? That must be one hell of a solid functioning and performing rifle... color me intrigued.

It would be a tall order at the present time for you and thunderhog to convince the CGN community otherwise. Kinda like going in dry with no lube.

I am not posting to convince anyone, as a matter of fact I don't give a rat's behind what people are buying.

When I post, I speak from my personal experience, for whatever it is worth.

I owned a Tikka, and I just handled one this morning, and in my opinion the ATA Turqua is the better buy, that's all.

So I guess the Savage branded version of the same rifle at half the price of the Turqua makes the Turqua eat ####?

I have no skin in the game, but I would very much appreciate that you inform yourself before making any statements, which could be construed as nonsense coming from a windbag.

I told you already that the Stephens (walnut wood stock) sells for $679.99, plus tax make that $768.39.
You must be really lousy in math if you consider that half the price.

Also the Stephens come with one magazine only, the Turqua comes with two.
The stephens come only in 20" barrel length (for 243 WIN)

I will check out the stephens this week, and see what's the difference besides what I mentioned already.

The Turqua is much better finished, has a free floating barrel and adjustable trigger, these features are not found on the Stephens.

They're the same rifle. Maybe some different features, but it's the same rifle.

Most places have the Stevens for $650, at least one place I just looked had it at $630. When I Google Ata turqua I'm getting $930 from most places, many of those are for plastic stocks (I did find one walnut at the price though). While it's not twice the price, it is 50% more, for the same rifle, under a less respected brand. Seems backwards to me.

And They are heavy! 7.5lb! I was interested in these guns when I first saw em, but between the weight and the lack of a lefty option I no longer care. Also not big on magazines that don't fit flush. Too bad because I'm a big fan of budget friendly guns.

If you don't particularly care about a wood stock, the Stevens for like $470 is a steal. A clunky, chonky steal but a steal haha. Dunno why anyone would pay more for the Turqua. Ok, iron sights I guess.

Looks like the new ones in camo synthetic etc are priced pretty much in the 1000 dollar range too. Bonkers.

The lack of left hand version can't be fixed :(

Even the wood stock prices are hard to beat. The only Axis available with a wood stock is an Axis II XP, but it's msrp is $689 vs the $509 of the Stevens 334 (USD for both). Not exactly much in the budget world with a wood stock...

And at least for with the one in the photo on savages website, the Axis hardwood stock looks like dog #### lol

LOL yeah I think its about the most economy tier that a Boyds can get eh?

Nah, $450-$550 at Cabellas when they go on sale...the prices of the Turqua by comparison, same rifle, is nuts. Seen them at SFRC....crazy gouge there.
Not a Tikka killer at all, way heavier and blocky as hell. Maybe a better option then an Axis lol?

That's the new price with the new ATA importer.

I didn't handle the $780 Stephens rifle yet (yes the Savage you are refering to, is actually a Stephens and sells for $780 including taxes).

However, yesterday I received 2 ATA Turqua rifles, and when I compared the to a brandnew Tikka at the range today, I looks like the Turkish gun is a much better deal.

Just came back from bass pro where I handled both stephens, the "plastic" stocked one and the walnut stocked rifle.

The plastic stocked stephens is a great deal for $450 on special right now (regular price is $550), a good deal if you don't care for a gritty very sticky action, no free floated barrel, overall way less well finished than the Turqua.

The Walnut stock on the other one was nice, but again no comparison with the Turqua.

The plastic stocked one goes for $450 on special right now, but the walnut stocked rifle is still $680 plus tax.

Coming from the same plant both with a walnut stock the Steven’s one sells for 500 and the Turka one for 1000$.

If I close my eyes, concentrate real hard and recite the secret Turkish words while vigorously rubbing my turqua maybe it will magically become a tikka? :p

Maybe you should concentrate and rub much harder, to get some results.
... and it always depends where you rub.
