Some people will raise their eyebrows at this question... but has anyone done anything kind of neat with their M1 Garand?

I want to but a black syntheitic stock on mine with a T37 flash hider... but has anyone ever taken it a bit farther? If you have done something with your Garand please feel free to share :D

I have to admit that I thought the price on that bubba was a little high for a bubba. Each to his or her own though. Looks like everyone is on the M1 Garand train right now asking large sums of money for a rifle that is not difficult to obtain.

I just paid 5 bills for a 1944 era SA Danish return. All correct '44 SA except for the new VAR barrel and the Augusta Arsenal refurb markings on the stock. Even has uncut op rod and lockbar sights.

Keep looking - the good ones are out there for fair prices if you're patient :)

Same seller was really all against the high prices that were posted for the M1s....... in another thread.

All depends on what end of the dollar bill you are...... Must be changing perspective.

It's a high price... but it's such a nice rifle!

Can't argue with that logic.

Hi Claven2,

Yes, it is like a good wine..... it gets better with time, but only if handled correctly. ;)

She shoots great with the right stuff. Thanks God she's not alone in the safe and she can get some rest too.

A friend of mine from NJ has a .308 Tanker scout rifle. I thought it might be the best Canada legal(maybe?) semiauto. Like a M14 with 3 more legal rounds?
I have a photo but putfile has gone crazy.

It's nothing too fancy, but here's mine.

Since I took the pic I added a new leather cheekpiece and I've got an adjustable gas nut en route - should be here this week. I totally love this baby. All Breda (I've got the wood stocks w/original metal cleaned and put away) with an excellent condition VAR barrel. Never a stoppage and very accurate. It's my go-to rifle.

Very nice, thanks for sharring!

That is what I was looking for, keep them coming.

Have you given any thought about a T37 flash hider? that would really add to that bada$$ look

No flash hider for me. I'm a practical fellow above all else and a flash hider really serves no purpose for a civilian. I didn't actually do up my Garand for looks, I went to the synthetic stock because I put a noticeable scratch on my front handguard after only one moose hunting trip :( and felt bad about dinging 60 year old wood; and I scoped it because with the aperture sights (which I love as far as open sights go...) I could realistically only hunt out to 200 yards in real world conditions, but scoped I can honestly plaster big game out to 400 yards or so. This rifle isn't a showpiece, it does everything from filling my freezer with meat, to keeping he bears of my back. Nothing against rifles that are all done up to look tacticool at all however; if something has an honest function AND looks cool I'll go with it, but if it looks cool ONLY, then nope.

I find Garand prices right now super inflated. If everyone waits a year, or talks to one of their buddies, they can find a Garand for less than $800 still.

Or just wait a couple years and you can get one for the market price it's at right now...

But it is difficult to obtain, because of that. Too difficult for me to obtain, at least. I'd consider one as a hunting rifle if I could afford it, and I'd set it up along the lines of Northman999's, but while everyone selling an M1 wants to believe it's a rare collectible, one might as well get a Browning BAR.
