Hi,

Why is the price of pure lead goeing up and up... ??

Four months ago, I paid $50.00 for 45 pounds.

Yesterday the price was up to $ 140.00 for the same 45 pounds....

Do you have the same thing ???

I've heard that China is buying up scrap steel , driving the cost up.
John from TEN-X BULLETS was saying he's paying $5000.00 for a ton of lead in Vancouver.

China had to buy all that lead in order to complete their orders for xmas toys. Price should be dropping now that the xmas rush is over.

The war is a very, very minor reason for the price increase. If someone is saying that the war is is the reason for the price increase, then they are not aware of the big picture. Most of the price increase is because of worldwide demand, China, India and other developing countries.

Problem is that increasing supply of metals can take many years for ramping up production in mines and smelters. Over the past few years the stockpiles of most metals has been dropping and supply has not increased much.

Also some companies were not releasing their stockpiles/production, adding to the price increase.

Hmmm. In October, when the price of lead was 1.80/lb you payed $1.11/lb.

Recently, when the price of lead is $1.40/lb, you payed 3.11/lb.

I would say you are getting ripped off.......

If you're relying on lead bought from a foundry, you'll always pay a premium. You need to get creative and get out and look for salvaged lead from pipe, flashing, etc. Try scrap yards, put an add in your local Kijijji or the likes.

I found some lead from a company that renovated a doctor's office in a medical building. They line x ray facilities with lead sheeting. I had 50 lbs given to me.
