COLT SA REVOLVER 3rd gen Inquires.

Just wondering if any of you lads have any opinions on the Colt SA 3rd generation revolvers.

I'm thinking a
Blue finish
hard wood grips
45 long colt ( I reload so no worries about cost on ammo)
7 1/2 inch barrel

You know screwless frames are pretty cool too, but thats only if a want some serious engraving done.

I should really stop torturing myself

The late 3rd generation are very well made (from the custom shop) and I heard no complaints from my US friends. (I would just stay away from the "Cowboy")
44 and 45 are great
Why do you want a 7 1/2"? What do you plan on doing?:)

Okcorral1881. thanks for the feed back. Custom shop is definatly the way to go. As for the question. I have to go rustle up some no go cowboys ,lol kidding.

I just like 7 1/2

I just like 7 1/2

7 1/2 are great but if you plan to ever shoot from a holster 4 3/4 is the way to go!
5 1/2 are (best compromise) IMHO the easiest to sell and will often bring a premium over the 7 1/2
Anyway if you get inflicted by the Coltitus you might end up with more than one!

you have a good point on the 5 1/2 , they do have more selling power over 7 1/2.

So many options, it's endless.

I did contact colts custom shop and made an inquiry about a colt 5 1/2 , pearl grips(can't get ivory unfortunately), with level c grade factory engraving, and nickel finish.

I estimated the cost around 4k. I soon got out of that phase and wanted something more simple that I could take out to the range.

The guy told me they are no longer carrying pearl anymore cause the shipments were up and down, sometimes they would get it , other times they couldn't.

Buffa, A pair , of man can't imagine, Yes I have coltitus. I recently sold my colt pocket 1849 to another collector. I need to fill the void.

This one had a manufatactring flaw on the cylinder and extra "7" in the serial number. 80% nickel finish, 95% varnish, 6 inch barrel. Nice gun, god I'm an Idiot.
