The 1 MOA Hoax: How manufacturers have confused shooters

In Alberta the animal is supposed to be tagged as soon as possible after its death.

Knowing pathfinder, he'll pull his pictures now and take his ball home. Laughing!

Oh no, I agree.

Well kudos to pathfinder for keeping my passive aggressiveness in check.
I’m still wondering what other pics he keeps of me…

Looks like this thread has died (death due to personal attacks). Oh well it was time to move on anyway.

A few comments. I occasionally watch backfire and saw this video. I don't disagree with him, but personally would not name my son Ruger, Benelli, Husqvarna etc. seems like a bad idea for the kid's sake.
One more YouTuber to suggest is desert dog outdoors.
For myself i agree that too many guys are scared of their hunting rifle and either don't/ can't sight them in or just flinch when they shoot. I just keep it simple and shoot a gun that never caused me to flinch and can put 3 shots in 1.5" including the cold bore 3 inches above center at 100 yds every time. I did this every year so i finally decided i only need 1 shot at 100 before i go hunting as it was a waste of my factory ammo. My limit is 300 yards on deer. Its a 7-08, btw. It's no issue to put a shot through a deer's lungs at 300 yards with a solid rest and a center hold, with the scope set at 3x. That's my personal limit.
I don't think this whole infatuation with 1 MOA in a hunting rifle should be a thing to the average hunter. They should be confident to shoot within their particular limitations.

No reason at all. Some people are just shooters who desire to get the most out of their skill at arms plus they enjoy shooting for the sake of shooting that's all. Nothing wrong with either approach. Some people will tune their cars incessantly, some will tune their rifles by shooting groups with different brands of ammo.

It's a hobby - doesn't have to be practical.

You remind me of my former neighbour. A good hunter but definitely not a shooter. He decided after about 10 years to confirm his rifle was shooting to point of aim so I invited him to my range for the afternoon specifically so he could get some trigger time behind his rifle since we were going to hunt together.

So he takes a shot at 100 yds, hits somewhere in the vicinity of the 6 inch bull and that's it. Mission accomplished - no more shots required LOL. No amount of coaxing would get him to fire any kind of group. Ammo costs money don't you know.

I had brought my rifle so I fired some groups to test some loads I had brought out and he watched me throughout the session just shaking his head. Couldn't have been much fun for him but I had a good time - LOL

Different priorities, different goals that's all. To each his own

Hahaha, I definitely shoot less than some, but still shoot more than others, especially since I started reloading a few years ago!! That said I definitely don’t shoot thousands of rounds a year! I still think that 3 shots groups are good enough for hunting purposes! It is a matter of priorities and most importantly time!
