7prc hype ?

Seeing how the 7PRC is at the top of the heap right now in the World of F/O match shooting , I doubt very much if those guys are worried about it being overhyped ! LOL

That cartridge in F-class open that is so popular is the 6.5 PRC necked up to 7mm so named 7-6.5 PRCW not the new 7mm PRC cartridge.

Any cartridge based on the PRC case design is an excellent option IMHO

Nice there Waldo ! Hey thats nose hill Alberta range ? What size is that GONG at 1124 yards and at 1410 Please ? Just wondering - RJ

Hey Jim, Yes that's nose hill just south of Czar Alberta, at 1114 they have a man silhouette plus a 12" and 8" round gong and at 1400 they have a 30" round and a 16" square gongs, it's an awesome layout and well worth the 2 hr drive for us, you just set up on a bench pick targets from 400 to 1400 and shoot, they have a club house, patio and BBQ so you can take your lunch and make a day of it, we normally load up 5 or 6 of us in 2 pickups and leave early in the morning, given we are all retired we go during the week and have it all to ourselves.
The Pic's really don't do it justice but will give you an idea what the layout is.

But when you run a 7mm bullet out of the muzzle at a certain speed it doesn't matter what case it came out of if that cae is within presure spec.
Lots of guys are shooting the 7PRC as well as the 7PRCW. Lots locally anyway.....

Sorry I thought you had the cases mixed up that’s all, as a matter of fact my F-Class build is in 7mm PRC, but I would like to try the the 7-6.5 PRCW as well in a target rifle.

All these new cartridges are apparently “easy to load for”
A good barrel, a bedded action with a decent trigger regardless of cartridge is easy to load for…
The 7prc is no more a hit than the 6.8 Western imo.

Apparently? Look when I say easy to load for the process is no different then any other cartridge but seems to be easy to find an accurate load for the PRC cartridges that’s all, just to say they are not fussy I guess, but of course just about every rifle I have has a Benchmark Barrel so that may help.
Sorry to see you banned but I guess you gotta mind your manners !

Were I a newbie buying into my first guns and wanting good performance and versatility, I might well take a hard look at what Hornady has built over the last 20 yrs or so as a baseline for cartridges to start with, they have some good, some practical cartridges in 17, 22, 6mm, 6.5mm, 7mm and 30cal, they make sense for certain purposes, but are also pretty versatile for using in others, it's hard to argue with their philosophy, and they have done a good job of marketing and support to their products over a pretty wild time in the industry with supply chain issues in all respects. They're not perfect, some things have to be done certain ways for production needs or limitations which don't max out the envelope, but get pretty close. Certainly doing more than any other company in the industry has ever done. And they can't please everyone. I have quite a few things I'm not thrilled about with Hornady, but, certainly respect what they are trying to do.
