New for 2024 Tikka "Ranahan" in 223 and treefiddy legend.
Tikkas take on the Ranch style rifle that Ruger has marketed so successfully.

My son has a Battue in 30-06 and the sights are fantastic out to 100yds.
The 7" twist on the .223 is a nice touch as well as the threaded barrel for the suppressors we can't own.

I think every single rifle should be realized in .308

But maybe I’m biased because it’s the only calibre I like to hunt with lol.

.223 model will be super well received up here I’d imagine.

LOL all they'd have to do is thread up some existing Battues and drop em into that brown Roughtech stock so who knows :p

Tikka are typically one action length so I'd suspect more calibers will come.

Can someone explain to me the appeal/purpose of the Battue's rear sight configuration--the long strap leading up to the actual sight, sort of like a skeletal quarter rib? What is gained with this structure? Faster target acquisition?

I believe its faster target acquisition, basically they are originally designed for driven hunts in Europe for things like wild boar. Where you would want to get on target quick and potentially send multiple follow up shots. I believe the way the ramp works is similar to an archery pin sight that depending where you hold along the ramp allows you to shoot a variety of distances but thats coming form an older memory bank that could be terribly wrong.

It has lines of fibre optic leading up to the rear sight blade, it's really an amazing quick acquisition site. Easily the best barrel mounted iron sight I've ever used. There are no multiple holds.

It also triggers fudds, which is another advantage

I saw in a shotshow video that they are making one in 308 with a ctr mag. Pretty cool. Wish it had a shorter barrel though

I do agree about ranch rifles, the basic premise is to have a rifle that is good for every purpose and .223 is too light for the main purpose of hunting big game, whereas the originally conceived .308 fits the bill perfectly. There should also be a flash suppressor and the threaded barrel fits that perfectly. I'll definitely look at the rifle but will demand .308 before I plunk down the funds.

I got my wife a battue in .308. I've got to say, I don't find the sights that good. I'm sure some of you will see this as blasphemy, but I got a savage axis in 3006 with open sights last fall, and that thing blows the battue away for accuracy with open sights.

I'd prefer the normal factory Tikka irons as well.

But, at least those Battue style sights are well liked, high enough to see over a can (or scope base) and way less fugly to me than other giant sights made to see over cans

It’s ugly as far as I’m concerned, a ramped rear sight like a Rem 700 would make me want one if they offered it in a LH action but with this rear sight I’ll pass.

The Battue sights aren't precise but that's not their intended purpose. They are super fast to acquire a sight picture or track a moving target within 100yds.
If you settle in to them and concentrate you can pop a beer can or clay at 50yds and whack a milk jug at 150yds. That's about as far as I'd want to shoot with them...definitely a specialized sight and not for everyone.

The ranch is supposed to be available in a CTR stock. When the Tikka/Beretta rep came to the store, they asked us our opinion on a new rifle for Tikka to release. I said to take the Tikka Battue and put it in a CTR stock. Looks like they liked the idea.
