New Tikka Ranch

Tikka had another battue rifle before. Something like the T3 Hunter Battue in walnut stocks.

The iron (battue) sights are specifically designed for quick aquisition on fast running/charging game at closer distances.

Hacksaw that stupid looking ramp off lol.

LOL thankfully they have screws. Someone on the EE might wanna buy it, can probs get yourself a bottle of something decent!

Can't say I don't just see a rifle that should have the sights gone and a nice Trijicon on it lol.

Now maybe a set of actual iron sights regulated for a chosen load at 100 yards with no other real adjustability I'd be cool with :p

Have often said and heard the same said about the irons on a 30-30 and they manage to do it without being bestudded with fiber optics all over. But maybe just not good enough for hunting when you have 50 peasants beating the bush for you or your quarry is chased by dogs lol

Looks inspired by the sh*t they use to help a plane land on an aircraft carrier ;)

Dig the concept just fine, in all seriousness....just hate fiber optics. My eyes work tho.

Big difference between looking at a picture and looking down the sights. They are perfect for QC elk hunting, and even come on top of barrels chambered in heavy hitting rounds like the 1:7 223 and 350 legend now

Yeah, I've used em. One of my best hunting buds has one in 30-06. Never made me wonder how I ever hit anything with any other set of irons in my life.

Being able to see fine is cool. Or maybe its just something I'd know I need if I lived in a castle and hunted from a stand while people push running game around.

350 legend doesn't hit hard? Funny, all the big game that fell to perfectly adequate 30-30 Win rounds better never hear that either lol. Imagine their shock and horror. Same with 35 Rem!

Anyone who likes the Battue sights, more power to em. Happy they are out there for them, really. I wish Tikka would make more of these.

Fibre optic sights are for blind people is an interesting new take, especially from a tritium triangle advocate.

Fast target acquisition; just for blind Austro-Hungarian Hungarian dukes :dancingbanana:

Oh, you didn't know you can actually turn the illumination off? lol

Yeah, most of the times I'm using that triangle...its black. And the tritium barely shows. You can actually adjust the fiber optics for how much light you want em to throw in various conditions, and use the whole 2 MOA-ish triangle as one big red dot.

Should we compare Aimpoint red dots to iron sights now? Your desperation to make some kind of point against me is really showing lol.

How do you do that with fiber optic sights again? Maybe in dim light they work. No problem seeing normal sights then myself.

Oh god, that looks even worse. I love f/o sights and irons in general but hard pass on that set up, the rear ramp looks way too distracting.

Unless you're trying to bring an F14 down onto a pitching deck like Maverick, I agree lol.

Hard pass here. Some people seem to get their undies jammed up their crack if someone prefers something else but for guys who like that setup there? Drive on. They ain't for me.

This tho...Yeah. I want that.

Front post is plenty wide enough to catch your eye. Rear sight has a nice wide notch. Not like a lil v and inverted v like a Mauser etc. Perfectly workable hunting sight.

Yeah that’s what I’d rather have, a smaller ramped rear is fine by me as well. Have an 870 Turkey barrel with fiber optics on the front and rear and it’s a great set up, not distracting on the rear like that Tikka. I also prefer a blacked out rear with a front f/o, easy to line up the rear notch and focus on the front sight.

Would def take the setup with only the front sight having f/o rather than 3 dot as well.

The setup I posted would give a guy that option if they wanted to do it.

Half tempted to find a set like that up there or have one made up and put it on a Tikka build, just...wondering if the cost and pain in the ass is worth the off chance of a good optic failing lol.

The 1 in 7 twist in the 223 would make it useful with heavier rounds. I think Speer makes a 223 round in A Gold Dot 75 grain. Also, with a fiber optic front sight I've preferred the Green one over the Red one. I't a little bit brighter; for longer, when dusk arrives.

Other than the often discussed yet rarely encountered charging dangerous game inside 50 yards scenario, I can’t imagine being handicapped by iron sights for hunting.

I hunted with that Battue using iron sights for 3 years before I put the scope on it. The irons where really good. Put the fiber optic on the target and at 100 it hits near the top of the dot and at 200 near the bottom of the dot. I shot 1.25" 3 shot groups at 100 and 2.5" - 3" at 200. But I also hunted with my CZ 550 LUX and Safari for 10 years more then that and still only use iron sights when I take those rifle.
