Woah woah woah I just bought a savage axis 6.5 creedmoor.

Congrats on your Savage Axis
Have over 3,200 rounds through my 223 a few hickups along the way - it was the best $450'ish taxes in I've spent on the rifle.
Never had a firing pin issue
Extraction issue started after about 1,000 rounds bought a new bolt head no issues since then
Magazine still functions as new
Didn't do anything to the factory stock
If I ever burn out the barrel - a prefit barrel will be installed (same profile/twist rate)

To each their own I guess -

My axis 223 package has 2500+ rounds and never had a issue. Accurate but the trigger sucks. Spent most of its life bouncing around on a quad ,tractor or truck. Mostly used for ground squirrels but with 64 grain WW PP has cleanly taken 7 mule deer bucks.

Hi, newbie here, is the Axis such a bad rifle? or is it more elitism than actual function what drives most of the bad opinions? I was looking in to it as an entry level rifle.

There are many here that are into nice guns and other who will be happy with any gun that works. Some have lots, some have a few. The elitism you refer is probably from those whole like the nicer ones. I don't blame either group for their choices and opinions.

Congrats man, glad you're excited. The Axis will do you well, just be mindful of binding the bolt when you run it fast. MCarbo also sells good trigger upgrade kits if you're into that. As for the 6.5, you're gonna love it. Great all-rounder. For those of you naysayers and ####flingers, do as the libby lefties say and "don't yuck someone's yum"! Lol

Just cuz your bald or follicley challenged, don’t hate a very accurate efficient round. Leave a new guy that’s excited about a new rifle alone and offer encouragement. The more shooters that we have the better chance we all have when voting!! The man bun thing has gotten really old and I’ll bet most have never owned or shot one. As for the comment about a specialized round, well are most calibres better suited to specific purposes?? I don’t think a 338 Lapua can’t kill a squirrel but I’m not going to use it. Sleek highly efficient bullets out of a very efficient case going 2800 fps. Don’t really see much of a problem.

I went into my local Cabelas for a gander at the Axis first hand, as well as the 110. I'm glad that I decided against the Axis, or even Axis II when I was researching my rifle. I got a Howa 1500 for myself, but now I'm considering another one that my teenager could use.

Does anyone else find the AXIS handhold a bit skimpy? I have normal sized mitts, neither big nor small, and I couldn't find a comfortable hold on it. The 110 seemed fine, and my kid's got bigger paws than me.
