New! Remington R15 VTR Semi

Can't you guys just let a guy dream...

I had at least two months worth of dreaming here and you had to dash it right away...

In that case I wont tell you about the Easter Bunny, Santa Clause,........:D

I think most of us just want to make sure we and you have the correct information.

There is nothing wrong with dreaming, most of us probably have the same dream.

As much as you would like to dream... how much fun would that translate into if you got in trouble with the law for the information provided (incorrectly I might add) by the store you bought it from?

E-mail to the CFC:

Hello,

There has been a debate with some friends that a firearms dealer has listed the Remington R-15 hunting rifle as NON-Restricted.
This rifle has been introduced this year. When registering this rifle will it be classed restricted or non-restricted.

Thanks

Thank you for your correspondence.

To acquire one of these firearms, you would need to acquire from a Business or someone who has already one registered to their name or import it. To acquire a previously registered firearm, you would need to do a transfer. To import, you would need to follow the procedure below. Please note that verification needs to be done before you can apply to register. You will need to contact our office with the firearm details. If it is considered a restricted firearm, you call will be redirected to a Firearm Technician.

A Canadian Resident Wants to Import a Firearm into Canada

The individual must have a Possession and Acquisition License (PAL) for the type of firearm(s) being imported, restricted or non-restricted.

Contact Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade (DFAIT) and inquire about the International Import Certificate (IIC), whether a restricted or non-restricted firearm is being imported. If, depending on the situation, such a permit is required it will be issued by DFAIT under the Import/Export Act. The number to obtain the permit is 1-800-267-8376 or (613) 996-2387 if calling from outside of Canada.

The form required for the registration of a newly imported firearm is Form CAFC 998E Application to Register Newly Acquired Firearms (For Individuals). The application must be completed with the full description of the firearm i.e. make, model, calibre, barrel length, shots, serial number, etc. For type of acquisition, you will need to indicate newly imported.

The application will require that the firearm be verified, which is a matching of the firearm information directly to manufacturer’s specifications. The verification may be done by calling our office at 1 800 731-4000, having the firearm (or complete details) available. The application form can be downloaded from the Internet at www.cfc-cafc.gc.ca. Please send the completed application to the address provided in the instructions. Please indicate if the firearm is being held at Canada Border Services Agency.

A registration certificate will be issued to you and must be presented to Canada Border Services Agency, along with your valid Possession & Acquisition licence to be able to bring the firearm in to Canada.

REMINDER: If restricted firearms are being imported, an ATT issued by the Chief Firearms Office (CFO) will need to be provided to the Canada Border Services Agency Officer, along with the registration certificate and PAL at the time of importation.

If you have any questions, please contact our office at 1 800 731-4000.

Sincerely

Sue

That does not seem to answer the question I asked.
(Yes, I know the answer, but I am just posting the response they gave me.)

at least its camo painted right, so it doesnt look evil and black, but more like a hunting/varmint rifle

please god...do the right thing

Come on... this thing is so painfully obviously an AR15 with camo paint. There's no question about it, the RCMP will definitely say restricted.

They already have. I posted the CFC page verbatim. I don't understand why people are still discussing this as a possibility? It's done! Been done for more than a month. It's an AR15, Remington says so, the Firearms Act names AR15s as restricted. It's restricted. Until AR15s become non-restricted, the Remington R15 will remain restricted. Dealers can say what they want, but it doesn't change the law. I wish, we all wish, but, it's already down in black and white. R15=Restricted, AR15 variant.

You assume people actually read this stuff?

Ok. I'm sure it has been asked before, but...
Where can I get one?
When can I get one?
How much $$$'s to get one?

Don't care if it is restricted or not. I assume it is...

Someone should call the guy up at WSS and show him that FRT# with the rcmp, I wonder what his response will be then?

The only hope that we have with de-restricting the AR15 is with the "variant of the M16" glitch.

Back to the 300$ donation for each CGN member who owns an AR15... I own an ar15 and I would actually donate 300$ IF there was a sound case built to fight this in the courts. We already have the basis..

I think it would be much cheaper and extrordinarily faster to convince our wonderful Minister of Justice (Stockwell day) of the inaccuracy and get him to pull a good old OIC reversing the previous decission.

Not going to happen until the CPC get a majority...

Not going to happen until the CPC get a majority...

Definatly.

Still so sad that after all the BS that EVERYBODY put up with the liberals, people are still flocking to vote for them :(

I've been telling people all over to vote conservative. And not just for gun owners, but they have the ability to actually straiten some of the FUBAR things in this country out :)

mabey even *gasp* ATC's? (haha, wishful thinking... but one can hope)
