I have had my mind set on trying the hornady one shot lube, but it seems like every gun shop I go to either doesn't carry it, or is out of it.
where is a good place to order it in canada? and how long does it last/how much do I need?

One Shot

Try Higginson. I bought some there a little while ago.

Try some castor oil too. Just wash the cases afterwards.

For those guys who use it, how exactly do you use it?

Do you leave them in teh tray and spray form above, or lie them down and spray? Also how do you lube the case neck?

With Hornady "One Shot" (the aerosol version) I would stack 50-100 cases up vertically, spaced about 1cm apart, and spray from an angle (~45 degrees), in order to get some lube into the case necks. Spraying lightly from three sides would get good coverage.

I haven't seen the aerosol version in Canada for a few years and a call to Hornady revealed that they weren't able to send it here anymore.

However, they were supposed to be replacing it with a pump bottle version. If that stuff is like the Dillon spray lube, it's best to spray your cases laying down on a cookie sheet and roll them around to get uniform coverage. I've never had good success with case neck interiors with that sort of lube though. Maybe there's a trick to it that I'm not aware of.

FWIW, the Dillon lube is simply lanolin dissolved in isopropyl alcohol. It's quite a bit more "wet" (longer) than the old One Shot lube and it's best if it's allowed to dry.

I use the same procedure that A-Zone describes.

I bought some of the pump-bottle One-Shot and was not pleased with the results. The aerosol would dry within a couple of minutes, whereas I left the cases that I sprayed with the pump for up to 20 minutes and they still felt wet. I tried shaking the bottle before, and reducing the amount I sprayed, but no change. I managed to score a few cans of aerosol which should keep me going for a while. I've switched to Imperial Sizing Die Wax for most applications anyway.

I still love the aerosol version. Bought a few cans from Ellwood Epps the last time that I was there. Always buy an extra can whenever I got the time to swing by that store on Hwy 11.

Peace out.....

I tried to order some from cabelas a little while ago and it said they wouldnt send it to canada.. along with a couple other things
I don't know where they come up with their criteria for what they send to canada!
they might be worried about me using it to lube cases for the taliban or something??

Shipping liquids is prohibited by many carriers, especially for international transport. Take a look through a Brownell's catalog and you will see a "cannot ship internationally" note beside every liquid chemical in the book.
