What do I look for when reviewing ads on the EE?

Tells me lots...

It has pictures, no one else has seen the ad yet and if the price is fair...I'll be sending my info PDQ !!:p

Compared to...

No pictures and the seller will never get what they're asking...

Ohhhh, that time that you beat EVERYONE and get that offer in on a juicy new posting. I find myself doing a quick scan at 1am PST just to see if I catch a late-night listing.
Nothing worse than seeing a killer deal only 1/2 hour old with $SPF in it lol. Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Right there with ya...
If I was ever savvy enough to set up an 'alert' notice on my cel... well I guess I'd be eating more Kraft Dinner.... (inside joke)

I start with the title of the ad. It has to be thorough enough to let me know if it is something I am interested in or not.
Good description with detail about the item.
Pics are always good.
Last thing for me is the price.

Close, but I HATE looking at Good descr of 20+ lines and 4-5 pics, only to find PRICE at the very BOTTOM of the ad - OR mixed in somewhere with just $###. And "Firm" is silly unless it's a GREAT PRICE ! If I can find one on GP across town for the same price, why arrange 'sight-unseen' shipment ? Location - at least prov - S/B on TOP or at least in Sigs, so I don't "want" something that'll cost $70+ to ship Coast-to-Coast OR have that info for offer/negotiation.

I come here for the banter. My adds go to a more user friendly website. Maybe if gunnutz would make photos and posting adds easier I’d sell stuff here again.

I find it quite easy to post an ad, the pics take a few seconds more but I've used Postimage .org for pic-hosting for over 10 years. NO BS like P-Buttket.
Hey, I just noticed my feedback has disappeared. Does that "Expire" ?
OH, it's back. Maybe just not visible "right after I posts" ?

Just because an ad has been up for awhile doesn't necessarily mean that the stuff is overpriced; some items are of interest only to a very limited market section. Stuff like that can sit awhile before finding a buyer.

It also appears that there are some folks who keep the same ad up and running forever, just adding and subtracting and editing as items are sold and replaced with others for sale. Bad idea if you want to sell stuff.

Opening lines like "RARE! RARE! RARE!!!" tend to put me off; they might as well just come out and say "OVERPRICED! OVERPRICED! OVERPRICED!!"

Same with descriptions like "Two hairline cracks at tang; piece of stock toe broken off; gouge at crown; otherwise mint!"

Telling me that a mark or flaw is "nothing to worry about" means nothing to me. Major alarm bells sound at the mention of the phrase "basically new".

I want pics, an accurate and fair description, and an idea of location. I specifically don't want a whole paragraph warning me how I need to behave if I am to be taken seriously. Blathering on about what sort of actions the seller finds "disrespectful" and then expecting me to read the whole dang thing...is disrespectful to me.

That's why it's so nice to have the template to fill out and location given.

When am advertised custom shotgun is comprised completely of a no jam follower.

LOL, and it was an owner built gun

The add model I prefer and like adds close to it is.

1) Title to include item make, model, price. This may be simplified for longer makes/models.

2) Body of the add. Repeat the make, model, manufacturer (if possible), price. Include any extras (scopes, slings, cases etc.)
Brief description/reason of sale, I don’t always believe them, but it is interesting.

3) Photos. From multiple angles showing the full item then a couple close ups of common areas. I believe it help to have the photos in the add or at least a link to a cloud storage site; I use google drive when I post adds here.

When I post an add I try to follow the format below. Yes, some of it is over kill for a well know modern rifle, but I find it nice to not have to go looking for information.
Title: Savage Axis – 30-06 $500 (what you see in the market place)
Make Savage
Model: Axis
Caliber – 30-06
Price: $500 + shipping
Action – Bolts
Magazine: External 5 round magazine. (I’m guess for the example)
Optics: Bushnell Banner 30 x 3-9 included.
Extras: Synthetic sling, extra magazine, and a t-shirt because this is an example.

Buyer pays Shipping . . . from where?

Shipping sometimes appears to include a Handling fee.

If I am to pay shipping give me the amount. It can be calculated on the CP website but tell me as the postage sticker will show that you added value.

Has anyone from Admin offered any solutions?

When selling rifles scopes, a G69 reticle tells nothing.

Take a look at your ad, read it out lout to yourself then ask the question . . . Would I buy this article? The lack of information has scam written all over it.
