Need to mount a light for my gun. Anyone have any suggestions that wont brake the bank and that I can source here in Canada

Thanks

Streamlight 870 mount .... not expensive ... and can be mounted and taken off in seconds ....

There's a thing called a "GrovTec US Extended Magazine Tube Mount" that is basically a picatinny rail that fits onto the factory barrel clamp for Remington 870 magazine tube extensions.

i like this idea anyone carry them in Canada

I got mine from Amazon as well .... but it seems they are out of stock.

I would Google "Streamlight 870 mount Canada" ....

One of the first ones that shows up with "In Stock" is the following:

and another one is 911 Supply ...

has anyone tried the Streamlight TL-Racker Integrated Shotgun Forend

It pays to have a proper forend wrench when you mount these, if it's the slightest bit loose, it'll twist and interfere with your pump cycle. Mind you, same goes for most things, get it tight and if the SG is for social work, loc tite is your friend. The Surefire is a better, but not perfect design - but the cost is insane for what you're getting.

Almost bought a TL-racker until I handled one. I'm sure they work great, but bulky. Best would probably be a surefire forend, but the clamp-on options are fine/cheaper option too.

I've had the Streamlight and Surefire DSF. I actually found the Racker to be more comfortable and natural for hand placement/wrist over the DSF. The Surefire does obviously feel more robust, I'd try a 618 if I was looking at getting another one.

In the end the setup I liked the most was just a Magpul forend with a basic light mounted on an offset mount

I found the exact same. The DSF just seems to put my wrist at an awkward angle. Fantastic beam pattern and distance though. The Racker is my preference but I did rock a Protac HL-X on a Magpul forend with an Arisaka mount for a few years too. Both those setups are excellent.

I had a Streamlight Racker break on me when it separated down the middle seam of the light. This then caused it to jam up the action. Went with the Surefire DSF after that. The profile of the DSF isn't as good as the older Streamlight Forends, but is bright and very robust.

That said the Racker survived lots of buckshot and full power slugs before it went belly up. If it is a fun gun, I would go with the Streamlight. If it needs to stand up to hard work I would (and did x2) spend the extra sheckles on a Surefire.

Also I would avoid putting a pistol light (Like a TLR-1) on any kind of shotgun. Shotguns are simply too violent and like to send accessories flying downrange.

Unless you're on a semi, I think that the integrated forend is really the only way to go. For reliability, that leaves you with Surefire. If you're dead set on a light, and I mean really all about it, just save for a used Surefire. You'll spend twice as much on other options trying to get what you want [unsucessfully] and then end up buying a Surefire anyway.

I have and enjoy the profile of the older Laser Products (pre-Surefire) forends, but older Surefires can be found here for decent prices. Not like we use and abuse them much.

I have an old Surefire on my HP9-1 870 clone.

It's a good light and I replaced the 60 lumen incandescent head with a 300 lumen Malkoff Device which uses only one CR123 opposed to the two needed for the original head.

I've shot it a fair bit, blew off the Wilson front sight twice (gunsmith installed the first time) but the forend shows no wear.

On my Mossberg 590S I went a different route. It has an MLoc forend so I run various 18650 lights at 9 o'clock with a spring loaded Surefire light clamp. I have a couple of the clamps so I can put on white light or a white/IR as needed. I like it for the greater brightness and the flexibility.

Not high end stuff, but this is my setup. The piece of rail and light w/ mount are from Amazon. Spent less than 75 bucks, but the stuff seems solid. Loctited all the screws so it doesn't move at all hopefully. Haven't shot yet.

Ordered one of these a while ago after a recommendation. It was turned around and returned to the seller by CBSA though for some reason unfortunately. Still trying to source another.
