Yes, their website is still up, but that does not guarantee anything....

Looking for any current positive or negative feedback, regarding placing and receiving online orders, before I place one.

Thanks.

Send an email titled" how to send payment?" That will get a reply if nything will. If they answer then at least you know someone is still there.

Call Murray on Monday. His Facebook pages have not been updated since 2019 but a thread or 2 in the reloading section here suggest he's still running the shop.

If not, OMA Products in BC does good work.

I ordered some bullets from him and was not satisfied with the cast bullets or the service.

If you want to save yourself some trouble you should look elsewhere.

Murray sullied the name of a great shop. When Lois ran the place in BC it was top shelf.

OMA pricing: 124gr @ $50.00 & 158gr @ $58.00 plus tax for 250?! If you pay by credit card an additional 4% fee applies. Also, they require 3 weeks notice and a 50% deposit.

I only shoot 9 & .38/.357, so I don't know how the other calibres compare, but that pricing is, well, insane.

I would agree. Prairie Projectiles in Alberta is $75/500 for both of those and they are powdercoated (from their Oct. 2022 price list). I don't know what the shipping deal is with PP as I've picked up in person, but Kurt did an order of a few hundred pieces of a couple different calibres based only on an email exchange and a commitment to pick them up at a local gun show, no deposit required. Quality of all that I've loaded so far has been excellent, with no issues.

What's the attraction here? Costs more than Campro plates bullets, not in stock, have to arrange pickup from someone's home...

I bought bullets for 8x57 and .303Br, so I don't know about the pistol bullets. I was just sharing what Kurt's prices were if someone had a hankering to shoot cast for whatever reason.

I do kind of wonder about this... Jacketed/plated are easier to deal with in most/every aspect. I thought the attraction to lead is that they were cheaper. But if they're not cheaper... Why?

Genuinely curious.

The only reason I shoot it is for reduced load fun in my enfields. Less powder, large pistol primers, long case life, and 1800fps is still fun

But yes, not really cheaper bullet wise...unless you cast them yourself.

One potential issue is for cowboy action. I believe they insist on lead only

The attraction is, we called up the company and told them what we wanted. Then he brought them to a gunshow near to us and we picked them up and paid cash. That is as close to free shipping as one is going to get. Doesn't get more hassle free than that.

Powder coated bullets have benefits over traditional lube. Less mess, and zero leading.

I shot thousands and thousands of OMA bullets when I lived in Van. I don't know anything about the new owners but the shipping from their current location has to be considerable.

I pick mine up at the Kamloops Gun Show.

For me it's custom sized bullets. Particularly for shooting a Carcano which requires a larger than normal 6.5 bullet (.268/9 instead of .265")

That is interesting, I got in contact with him to get some prices and shipping estimates and he made me feel like I was putting him out trying to put an order in with him.

Businesses who interact like that I usually accommodate by not putting them out with an order.

Agreed. I had a similar experience with BDX and a 2K+ order many years ago. I think some of these shops focus on their large contacts, and with good reason, but unless they can support both they should probably just drop retail/direct to customer sales altogether.

P.S. The quality of BDX bullets were/are?? top-notch. Unfortunately, the owner should have hired a service person to interface with the customer on his behalf. He was a disaster to deal with, and he admitted to me that customer service wasn't his strong suit.

Hey Guys and Gals. Marc from Oma here. I know everyone is looking at the price list and going WTF. Unfortunately over the past 3 years lead prices have absolutely gone crazy. With lead prices and shipping costs on getting the lead to us to make bullets from has gone up more than 6 times what we used to pay when we first took over Oma 17 years ago. Anyone who has bought from us in the past know that I have always followed the lead pricing. If it went up we had to raise prices if it went down we also followed the price down. The new price is not posted yet but lead did drop slightly this year and our prices will reflect this. I dont take a wage from the business as I have a full time job. The bullets are a hobby. But the business also has to pay for itself or there is no sence in me doing what I do. One thing I have always been about is quality. We dont use scrap lead. Our lead is mixed by our distributor to our specs that way we ensure the consistancy is always the same. Whether you bought bullets 10 years ago or yesterday the mix is the same. With scrap lead the mix is always different. And I wont sacrifice quality. I would sooner not make bullets than make bullets that are no good. Hopefully this explains our prices and why we have had to do what we did with prices. It sucks and I am the first one to say so. Unfortunately it seems to be the way these days where its so expensive to do much of anything. I hope you guys can understand the position I am in. I wish we could do things cheaper but until our material costs drop I have to cover costs. See you at the shows and we hope to continue to supply your cast bullet needs.
