I started a pretty serious purge before Christmas. Stuff I don't need or use is going out the door. Sold 4 long guns, some primers, a scope, a bunch of dies, SKS ammo, brass, bullets a take-off bbl and other stuff I don't recall.

I did a tally today and am up to about $5300 with more to go. Just need to decide on what guns are going now. There's a nice Browning/Sako 222 pencil barrel that will go but it will be hard to decide after that. Will have a look at the powder and brass as well.

Between here and GP, there are still buyers out there if you're not to optimistic in your pricing.

I have been doing the same thing and no matter what you post, there is a buyer for it. It does feel good to move some stuff to new owners and it a nice feeling when your benches are starting to look organized. I have been doing it passively since mid January and I am up about $3k. For now pricing is not a problem, I have a lot of people jumping on things as soon as they are posted.

I have a bunch of stuff I have to clear out. I sold a couple of thousand worth of odds and ends laying around but got stalled. The problem being I like very much everything I have even if not being used. Some shotguns were years of searching to find and/or afford. I have a fly rod for every day of the week but generally only use one or two. It sucks finally getting the things you always wanted but getting too old to enjoy them. I would have to live to be 150 to wear out the boots I have accumulated.

Been moving ng out stuff on a pretty regular basis as of late, the last bunch was a 600jr press and a full case of Claybuster 1 1/8 wads and AA hulls , which are next to useless to me as I have a 9000 progressive and an old Lyman single stage still.
Almost convinced myself I needed another SxS 12, but then realized anything I need to do I can do with what I already have .
Turning any excess money from guns and equipment sales into powders, primers and such that I can actually use!

I'm thinking about a third table at our upcoming gun show.

Gett'in me arse old is what I call it.

More chit'n feathers around here that I trip over.

I keep thinking of downsizing drastically and sell off 20 or 30 guns but then I look at them in rack and remember the good times with them. Then I talk myself into keeping them

Yes, I am in that "older" group as well, and can see some of my pets going away soon.
It's been a slice, but the years are catching up with me. I can see about 4 CF rifles going,
and a few RF rifles as well. Some components will follow, of course. Dave.

Freedom, it’s called freedom. Not quite 40, just had a big move and went though everything I owned and downsized a lot. Not financially motivated but a wants vs needs thing. Your absolutely right, less is more and I feel I can fully enjoy and appreciate the stuff I have.

Back when business was booming I bought whatever piqued my interest, caught my eye, or made me curious. Once it was in my grubby paws I inspected it, studied it, shot it, and got to know it. Then I decided if it was a keeper or not. If I lost a couple bucks on the resale, I considered it the rental fee for the opportunity to play with it.

So for a long while I was always buying, and always selling.

People sometimes asked “how the hell could you sell that?!” and my answer was often “If that’s what I’m selling, imagine what I’m keeping...”

Anyway that process let me edit things down to a small number of guns that perfectly met my needs. Admittedly, it would have been far easier to have just kept them all. To downsize a good collection you have to be a little ruthless.

I think that there are a few of us "experienced" folk here in the same boat. I too have been seriously thinking abut moving out a load of reloading supplies that I question that I will ever use. I could probably also move out a couple dozen firearms without leaving myself short-handed.

What are North American made large rifle primers going for these days? LoL ;)
