Anyone try this ammo? picked up a few cases at Alflaherys. They have a great deal. Check out there site. Any thoughts on this Ammo. ? picked up some buck and 00 Buck

I was about to post an inquiry to this and glad to see someone else did. Looks like Tenda is having a special on this right now. I don't know anything about the company except it's in South Carolina and that special forces are used to test the ammo...given it's 1550FPS on the slugs, not on the low recoil side but it's cheap enough I will give it a try on the weekend out of my M4 and SuperNova and see how different it is from the usual Score Low Recoil I shoot. Happy to see some other brands out there along with the usual stuff.

EDIT: Saw the deal from Al Flaherty's - other poster was absolutely right...great deal...buy min 15 boxes of slugs, price ends up being $8.99 each (per box of 10). I have ordered.

Shipping from Flaterty's=? though?

Yeah, not sure...it was about an hour for me to drive in to pick it up, so didn't have to deal with shipping.

Honestly, at $8.95 a box of 10 slugs (assuming you buy 15 or more boxes), it is a great deal. I have pretty much just shot Remington Sluggers, Score Low Recoil slugs and Federal TruBall. If this performs reasonably well, I'm going to stock up on this exclusively.

Got home and after recording all the details on my ammo spreadsheet (yes I am a spreadsheet nerd), I did a quick once over on the box and lo and behold...even though it's a USA company...in very small print, it says MANUFACTURED IN CANADA. Too bad it didn't say where...but happy to buy something made here... Their website only says they are based in South Carolina.

Will try it out at the club on the weekend...

I tried this stuff and it runs fine and performs decently. I have a sneaking suspicion that the manufactured in Canada part is that it is made in the same factory that does Score. Except for the company logo on the bulls, the colour, pattern, etc. is exactly the same as Score. I don't think there's a whole lot of manufacturers of Shotgun shells in Canada aside from Score and Challenger. After I shot the Milis, I tried some of my Score slugs and despite the advertised velocity difference (Score 1300 or so compared to Mili's 1550), I really did not notice a difference. Happy with these rounds but it's a pretty small sample size with slugs only.

I'd agree with you 100%, Noticed it the first time I seen the slugs.

Interesting your score slugs are orange. Maybe because mine is the low recoil variety but it is the exact same color and shade of gray as the Milis and has the exact same ribbing texture and pattern as the Milis as well

that's interesting, the orange ones are also low recoil, they may even be branded competition. I'll check the box when Iam home from work today.

Yup, Still 1300FPS as well, Just branded competition, the case is 5 years old or so.

Interesting...my box looks exactly the same as yours, but the shells inside are that greenish-gray.

I just broke out the boxes from my stash and did a side by side comparison - took some photos which are below. Methinks Mili has Score subcontracted to make their ammo...I'll be a monkey's uncle if this doesn't turn out to be the case.

The other reason I find this whole Mili vs Score thing interesting is because when the Mili lot came into Canada, many places had it priced on what seemed like a deep discount from the stated MSRP essentially 50% off (Tenda had a buy one get one free sale, Al's had a buy 15 or more, get them at $8.99 a box of 10 or whatever). Incidentally, at the same time Tenda had the Score flats on sale for deep discount as well (it was $199.99 for 10 boxes of 25 - a flat). I thought the Mili price was very good averaging 90 cents per round, but the Score, when bought in flats, and in light of the sale price was 84 cents a round. Both are much better deals than the Federal 5 pack law enforcement slugs or Truball or whatever that was like $7-9 a pack of 5.

Personally whether Mili or Score is the same thing, I will always have a preference to buy Canadian made if I can help it. The Score stuff has been a solid, reliable performer and even when the price rises again on the Score (which it has - sale's over) - if Mili hovers around this price point, it's a pretty good value, all things considered. In using both "brands" of slugs on my Supernova and M4, I personally have not noticed a difference in either performance or felt recoil (not to the point it is substantive enough for me to differentiate).

I know that Challenger shells change color from time to time.

I bought BB shot shells that were green a couple of years ago ... and the same shells are now orange.

I am assuming this is the result of issues with availability of the Cheddite hulls.

Challenger only uses Cheddite hulls.

And Score probably as well .... and Mili as well ...

That would explain the change in colors for the hulls ...

I also find this interesting, as I've had a ton of issues with challenger shells in my versamax, steming from out of spec brass, the shells would actually pinch between the receiver walls of the gun, once I switched to score the issue was gone. if they were both cheddite hulls, they definitely weren't the same QC

I don't think Challenger and Score slugs come out of the same factory .... me as well I had quality control issues with some Challenger slugs.

But both seem to use the exact same components.

Here a picture of two brand new and primed Cheddite hulls (blue and clear color)

Notice how the markings are the exact same markings as on the Score slugs and the Mili slugs. And the Challenger slugs that I have here ... have the same markings as well.

Also, notice how the primer seems to be the same primer ...
