Chiappa 9mm M1 Carbine magazine

Sorry I haven't had a chance to upload it yet with hunting season and my printer went down for a bit.
I spent some time making another design as well and just got that finished. It is smaller then the first design and doesnt cover the mag well.
The front of the mag is held together with a dovetail piece and 2 screws at the back. There are spacers as well for the different sized mags.

No offense intended, but by doing this you remove the compatibility with a pistol, thus taking away half of its utility.

It's for looks and not permanent. Many Chiappa m1-9 owners are only non-restricted pal holders so they have no care in using their mags for a pistol.
Plus these help to fulfill the topic of this thread.

I've had mine for about a year now and have run about 350-400 rounds through it. Mainly assorted cheap aluminum 9mm and I haven't had a single malfunction

Never had a problem with mine but didn't like the recoil. Pretty stiff for a 9mm.

Of all the pistols I own, none of them share magazines with the 92fs style this Chiappa uses. And, even if they did, a couple screws and it's free of the clamshell

Thanks again to ICEDSHOT for making these. I'll look into getting them printed hopefully soon

I just passed 1000 rnds through one and am very very happy with the reliability although mine doesn't like the aluminum stuff. Anything brass and it runs perfectly, I've played with both 115 and 124 gr. My kids constantly ask for that one over all other options when we are doing some plinking or just the annual pumpkin blowing up.

I don't think they deserve the reputation they have. Great little guns and a neat nod to a great piece of history.

Man, I had completely forgotten about this thread. ICEDSHOT, this is awesome! Now I want to actually get around to purchasing the Chiappa 9mm M1 Carbine. The dumb look of the magazine was really holding me back. I seriously was considering the 22lr version just because of the dumb look.

Thanks man, you are truly a treasure to this community.

I got my mag shells 3D printed by a local. I've been on working nights for the last few, but hope to do a test fit/install on these days off between other chores. Thanks again for making these

I would love it if you could Post pics!

Is there a paint that can be used to make it look like a real metal magazine?

Got the clamshells printed locally using PETG (the printer could have also done it in polycarbonate for a 10 extra bucks per) and got them secured to the magazines. I ended up using 6-32 machine screws as they were readily available to me. I'll probably tap them with a black paint pen to hide the brass colour on the screws. Grabbed some quick pics to show how they turned out. I haven't had a chance to hit the range yet, but I don't see any issues. As per the point above, I may drop these with a buddy who does a tonne of model painting to see if he wants to give it a distressed metal look, but that's not currently priority

I finally purchased a M1-9 Carbine. I have already ordered a real M1 Carbine barrel band (it will need shimming as the 9mm barrel has a smaller external diameter). I am considering also replacing the rear sight with an original. But if it requires professional work, probably not.

Now to get this 3d Print job done and maybe buy a 2nd magazine.

I have one, and the previous owner installed a GI sight, the flip up type with two aperture heights. It shoots too low and I find the wood in the way of the line of sight. I need a taller rear sight.

Anyone have tips for re installing the front sight?

Before I removed mine I marked the barrel front and rear of it with pencil to line it up correctly. Getting it to stay still while I hammered in the cross pin was the toughest part. I think I ended up putting together some wood blocks in the vice to generally line everything up

I picked 1 up at a great price because of that. Took me 45 min to figure it out and 10 min with a file to fix it.

You got to love that! Sometimes it just takes a little time..and the right person, to make it all come together.. I looked at one of these when I first bought a 9mm Carbine.. I like wood and the "look" of the older rifles...but didn't want to have play and play to get it just right...thinking i should have..these little guns are holding there value...just like all the rest.
Cheers
