All-New: Type 81M

I’m order # 266##, ordered mine on the first day they posted here on CGN. Got PAL verification Wednesday night around 10:30pm pacific time. Shows how hard TI guys are working, doing PAL verifications past 1am back east. Was hoping it would ship yesterday or today but looking like Monday or Tuesday possibly now. I’m not worried about it at all. I know they’re swamped like crazy and doing their best. Some people just don’t have the patience to wait anymore. If your order # is in the 27### then plan on not seeing your rifle/rifles for another week or two possibly even 3. I’m sure we’ll be seeing a couple whiners on here next week. Anyways, keep up the great work TI. You guys are awesome.
 
I asked them to hold shipping my order till later in the month.....I don't think they will have an issue honoring that request XD

I received both fixed and folder today. My previous experience with the T81 was a SE Folder that I quite liked but sold to finance an X95. First impressions:

First thing I noticed is the colour of the wood, it is toyish looking, I do not like it at all (compared to the SE). Fit and finish of the wood, however, is much nicer than the SE. My top handguard on the SE was wobbly, the wood on the M has a nice mat clear finish and does not move at all.

The LOP of the fixed stock is ridiculously short. Cheek weld is also horrible, you really have to put your head forward into the dip at the front of the stock to get a proper sight view. LOP on the folder is much better, however there is no cheek weld whatsoever. If you have a really long chin it might reach the stock, otherwise your head is floating there. Also beware of the mag cutout in the butt of the folder when bringing it up to you shoulder, it's a nipple ripper haha!
The SE and original folder really has the best stock by far.

Metal finish on the M is nicer than it was on the SE as well. I also appreciate the front sight being all the way forward. I'm not sure which of the two I will keep, I am leaning towards the fixed stock but will be building an AKM wood furniture set for it with a longer buttstock with proper height and an AK grip. I may also make a run of a few hundred if it turn out nice.

All in all, the fit and finish on these rifles is much nicer than the SE, other than the stain colour.

Yeah, really wish the Type 81M came as a side folder instead of an under folder. I bet the next run will have these same rifles, but with the side folder. I mean, I wouldn't be surprised if this was all planned, just so those who bought under folders and aren't completely satisfied will now also be more likely to buy side folders if/when they come out.
 
we are really Lucky to be able to Buy and own any of these Type 81,s the Americans would go crazy to own and buy if they could.. just saying..
 
For those that have ordered; did you get a confirmation email after you ordered? My web browser crashed immediately after I ordered so I didn’t get a chance to write down my order number before the crash.

I assumed I would get an email confirmation of my order, but could somebody confirm it’s normal not to receive it? My CC has a pending charge, so I’m guessing the order went through.
