I thought we were just talking. Philosophizing about history and current events. I always end up looking at things from different angles. Some type of weird character defect.
How about those type 81’s though. They sure look cool.

To help steer this thread back on topic, I will say that underfolders look cool but are a pain to shoot. No good cheek weld and make the rifle very front heavy. Makes sense why the Soviets transitioned to a folding triangle stock for krinks/para rifles. I think they'd be cool on short barreled PCC/SMGs though. The original Type 81/Type 56S-2 folding stock is actually quite fantastic in my opinion, and I think they should've gone with that for the 81M.

every thing you said are correct except the last sentence. the heavy barrel sidefolder wouldnt sell as well as the underfolders bcos we already have light barrel sidefolders plus not as ###y, lol.

Original AKMS rifles are regarded in the same way, it's just way how underfolder stock feels. Basically, if you don't have a fixed/side folder already, underfolder shouldn't be the first choice. I bought it just for looks and AK cope, and I aready have a modded fixed stock.

That is what many ppl with AK experience had been telling here and in TI topic - underfolders are the worst, but great Canadian AK coping is strong and udefeatable. And if you think it's bad for occasional range session - try to train, drill, sleep and #### with this abomination for extended period of time. I recall pain in my ribs as result of reloading drills (body armour won't help) and hate, haha. Now to "sweeten" the truth - AK underfolders were engineered and tested properly, but these Type 81 fantasy underfolders were slapped together by commercial request without any proper research and engineering. So I expect it to be even worse with an angle and with user experience.
 
One fellow on Reddit said the cheek weld wasn't that bad, and the length of pull was actually longer and more comfortable for a tall shooter the the fixed stock. He had wrapped the sides of the stock in paracord, so that should increase comfort, especially in freezing and hot conditions.
 
It should be longer LOP because of how Type 81 receiver is built and the need to clear the magazine that sits farther forward (compared to AK). That and transportation compactness are probably only pros of this fantasy beast.

I for one would have bought a t81m side folder if it existed, but only because the older shipment side folders still are selling for a high markup on the classifieds. So underfolder it is. (and I understand from a business standpoint why TI wanted to bring in a new configuration)
 
I will say this though, if TI got us krink/ak104 length t81s my credit card would probably leap out of my wallet through sheer force of will alone.
