All-New: Type 81M

So can someone tell me why one would be so interested in such a cheaply made stamped steel firearm for over $1000.00 that seems to be absolute garbage?......:(

I don't get the attraction, is it because it looks like a AK-47 that no one can own?

Someone, anyone?.......:)

And yes I'm being serious. These military grade guns look cool indeed, but also appear to be total crap!....:(

So again, why??????

My Type 81 SE is amazing. More accurate than any sks I've owned and after thousands of rounds of cheap surplus not one FTF...plus it looks f*** cool to boot. My $1500 AR wasnt even close to that reliability or my CZ 858...buy one, you will see.

So again, why??????

1)Reliability...I have never seen one fail yet.

2) The retro, cold war vibe and the fact that they look similar to an AK is deffinitelly a factor.

3) Good value for the money spent.

4) Did I mention reliability?

For me

1) We can't have a AK
2) We can't have a AR15
3) We can't have a cz 858
4) $1200 is not unreasonable
5) $4000+ on a NR Bren 2 (when available) is not something I am willing to do with our tyrannical government.
5) They are regarded as very reliable, something Canadian manufactures cant claim
6) I have 10ish crates of 7.62x39 with 2 of my rifles that shoot this caliber stuck in the safe. That leaves a lot of ammo to put through 2 sks's and a bolt action

First thing I look into any firearm is reliability. Second feature is the look of it. Clearly we all love great looking firearms just as women. Type 81 has function and from. If someone doesn't like it. Don't buy it.

My Type 97 looks rough on the inside and has a slight bend somewhere, had to crank the windage lol but works great and hits what I aim at. Looking forward to trying the type 81 for the first time.

Thank you guys for the explanations. They all make sense now.

I always wondered why someone just didn't buy a SKS to shoot 7.62X39 ammunition.

They do have a cool look indeed, just a lot of stamped steel. Beauty is definitely in the eyes of the beholder.

Thanks again!.....:)

$1000 for this rifle is not expensive in Canadian firearm market. In some countries, you can buy an AK47 for $9 USD.

For civilan market, retail price isn't really related to the cost of manufacturing. US Army purchase price for a M17 is $200? and how much is it selling in store?

The price is depends on market. If there are more competitors on the market, we will have better quanlity/price value. However Canadian firearm market is very small with more restrictions and political risks. So .....
