Looking at a Leupold Freedom scope with the Pig-plex reticle. Be using it on a Ruger American Predator in 308. Be close range brush gun for deer and quad gun. Anyone use this reticle for big game or any pros or cons?
Thanks

I've never used one but it looked great when I saw it in person. I modeled the reticle in Strelok Pro and running a .308 with 150 grain Winchester XP hunting rounds at 2700fps, all the BDC drops will ballistically match within a few feet of each other if you zero at 250yds.

I knocked 120fps off the listed 2820fps of the factory ammo which probably had a 24" barrel when they tested it.

Assuming you have the short 18" barrel Predator then adding this light weight scope would make a very handy package.

Yes mine is the short barrel. Yes the size and weight of scope is what appeals to me. Just wondering what that reticle would be like in hunting situations.

Try and get a look at one in real life if you can. From what I remember it was far less busy than the reticle picture on the Leupold website. The markings are in the inner 1/4 or less of the reticle and the rest is pretty much a duplex crosshair. It’s a bright and amazing little scope.

I posted a comment on this but it seems to have disappeared, at least I do not see it in the current page view.

I have the 1-4X20. Nice little scope, good clarity in the Freedom line, but the PigPlex reticle is nothing special. I was thinking of putting it on a 22.
