Places to Buy 7.62x54r

Have any of you tried using .308 bullets? I have used Win 147gr FMJ, Hornady150gr spire point & FMJ, Sierra 150 btsp and have had very good results with them. I've even taken first place at the FRPC Annual Miliary Rifle Shoot a few times with my Hungarian M44 Mosin Nagant. OBTW, Lebaron in Ottawa had factory ammo a while back.

I've yet to find ammo for my Polish Mosin for a while. What's up with that? Aren't there enough Mosins out there to get ammo from a supplier like winchester, remington or federal? All we would need is one 180 grain soft point load. The bullets could be used from the .303 British(.311 dia. instead of the .312 Russian. No biggy.). I see 8mm Mauser, 6.5x55 Swede, 7.62x39 and others rounds that are available in one offering or another. Why not this one?

My guess is that because the US has access tons of surplus as well as super cheap wolf imports that make it not economically viable for US manufacturers to bother producing it.

Why no French Lebel? Lots of rifles, I'm sure in fine condition, with nigh a cartridge since 1940. I always wanted a French rifle... but not as a safe queen.

Hey,

Sorry i didnt read the other four pages, but http://www.sirmailorder.ca/ has some military surplus stuff.

Check under the shooting/hunting area. If you have no luck PM me and i'll see if the store I work at has access to it through any of our suppliers.

Cheers,
P.

Thanks for your replies. I'm so depressed. I've just been dry firing my mosin in sadness. I guess I should have bought an enfield.
