All-New: Type 81M

First type 81 purchase, been waiting for months because I didn't want to overpay on GP. Fixed stock Order #268** ordered on March 12, received on March 25 (shipping delay, original date for delivery was March 22 end of day to BC)

Barrel looked bent to the right at first, but I noticed that the sight at the end of the barrel was secured to the far right. After realigning it to the center, the barrel visually looks straight. I'll field strip it and measure for deviation when I have time.

Is it normal for the factory to install the sight all the way to one side? In my case it was to the far right and the barrel appeared to be curved to the right.

The factory's seem to zero them windage wise quite well, all of mine over the years have been within a couple inches at 100m (but waaaay off elevation). So theres a good chance its all the way to that side because thats where it needs to be on your particular gun to be zeroed. Thus meaning there's some degree of misalignment somewhere.... which is considered normal for these guns to a certain point. My one side folder is way to the right, all my LMG variants are to the left lol

Welcome, tell us a bit about yourself, where abouts are you, what do you shoot

Hi new to this stuff mostly jumped into it full send since the current gov really started changing the laws for gun control and their bs. I had an old blonde type 81 and loved the platform but the sights and looks of the new underfolders look too good to pass on. I'm way over in BC I also got a nice Mossberg and a few little things for now just trying to add to the list. And I do notice alot of people worried about the quality of these rifles. The LMG was a nicer build but honestly after getting into some B&T stuff these rifles for the price I don't complain. Now if some Swiss made masterpiece came loose around the joints I'd be pissed but for a $1200 stamped and rivet made unit I'd give some more leeway lol cheap ammo and reliability is the game for these beauties.

I shot my fixed T81 2 days ago, first 10 rounds or so it stove piped like a ##### then was finally worked in and it ran beautifully. Mine has a bend to the right but out of the box zero sight adjustment and once you got the right cheek weld going it was pretty bang on from 25-50 yards or so. Yet to try beyond that but I’m sure it will show its deviation at range. Just hoping it’s decent at 100 yards and I’m happy with it I guess not made to be super precise as most know. Still sucks though.

That's how rifles are zeroed...you need to move either the front post or the rear sight left and right to zero for windage...the t81 has a fixed rear sight that only changes elevation (up down). Therefore the front sight post is moved left and right to zero for windage (left right). Congrats, your rifle is probably now way off because you screwed around with it without understanding how it works. This is what happens when people spew misinformation, people believe it. I'd recommend moving the post back as near as you can to where it was from the factory or else you will be shooting very far to the right.

Lol take a breath bud... and who doesn't zero their own rifles at the range. You shouldnt be relying on a factory zero lmfao.

Just shoot it and see if its ON

Sounds like Canada Post is sending mine on a grand tour of the country. Was shipped from Calgary on March 20 and is now in Winnipeg?

Update for #268xx was showing shipped in transit from Calgary March 20 then the delayed update. Today I see it's finally updated and showing in transit from Winnipeg MB.. I did add a slant compensator to the order not sure if the add ons potentially caused this?

Same, now kicking myself for having to wait exponentially longer while the day 1 folks are already out shooting

Yup lol! At least all my accessories have time to come in (thats what I keep telling my self anyway).

If anyone is interested in the sling from mine I don't think I will be wanting it seeing as the Mlok handguard blocks the front sling swivel.
