New Shooters Buying Shotguns

I am not bitter. Maybe I am.

Why?

Because people like you get off your ass to help the shotgun community.

And no one cares.

Bitter, I am not. Frustrated? Yes.

I do believe the shotgun crowd north of Red Deer has to become more aggressive.

As for guides, you have no idea the with the issues on my own land that I have to deal with.

I don't get what you mean by "more aggressive". We have clubs where we get together to shoot clays, and we enjoy ourselves, what are we missing?
This thread was created to help new people interested in shooting clays to start out with a suitable shotgun that fits, because most new shòoters don't understand shotgun fit, and end up spending money on a gun that isn't a suitable choice for them. It happens at the clubs that I shoot at , and I doubt that new shooters anywhere else are much different.

I am fairly new trap shooter. The biggest thing I have learned is the importance of gun fit - drop in the comb. I went from shooting 30% of the clays to 80%.

Once the gun fits properly the next thing new trap shooters need to master is following through the target, that's the number one mistake made by new shooters that I consistently see. The second most consistent mistake I see is checking the lead, that is looking at the target and then looking back at the bead just before pulling the trigger, that automatically puts you behind the target.

It's no different at skeet, the number one issue is stopping the swing to pull the trigger, and shooting behind. One shooter would swing 6 feet in front of some targets, then stop the swing, and shoot behind them.
