Hey all, looking to upgrade to a semi auto shotgun for the up coming waterfowl season. Looking for recommendations of affordable and reliable semis. Thanks

You need to determine what gun fits your best. If the Browning Silver/Maxus or Winchester SX3/SX4 fit you well, those are excellent options. I also have an affinity for the Mossberg 930/935.

Benelli and Beretta make excellent semi’s as well if they fit better the the previous mentioned brands

What is your budget?

I use a Winchester Super-X Model 3,but the newer Winchester Super-X Model 4 would work just as well,I would think. Not a lot of difference in either gun.:)

Another vote for the Rem-1187. I had an 1100 back in the 80's that was great. Sold it to fund a move :-(

mossberg 940 pro are making some noise as a proper American made that can run in the Italian circles now, 1500 round maintenance intervals suggested, not because they won't continue to run but that you might not get it apart to clean it after that lol, get your YouTube fired up and you'll learn about all the auto-loading players, watch the tactical models a lot as they tend to beat the sh1t out of those versions and be most critical, then you'll know which ones to start from for finding your field variant ;)

Just dont go with anything thats related to Browning.

Broke the piston spring on my Maxus, even Browning wont help me and cant find the part anywhere in Canada.

Kinda sucks to have a 2500$ gun that you can no longer use.

Stick with Beretta and Benelli.

Browning service has always left a lot to be desired.

I remember, back in the day,Browning service being quite good.I remember needing a part for a Browning self loading .22 and wanted it before the end of rabbit season, that was closing shortly. They had the part to me in record time. Now you are lucky if they even bother to answer your inquiry.:(

Beretta is out for me, since they don't fit me, and I won't own a SBE3, because the point of impact is higher than I prefer, and I prefer a gas operated shotgun.

I have been using an SX-3 for around 12 years, and a Maxus for 3 years, with zero issues.

Same here. Italian guns dont fit me well.

Was just throwing a tantrum cause of Browning service thats being pissing me off for the last 3 months. Never had any issue with my sx3,sx4 and Maxus before, but my Maxus just died and they wont do #### to help me.

Kinda sucks

In your position, I would purchase the piston in the USA, and have Prophet River bring it into Canada. I have used their import services before, without issue.

Beretta a400
Beretta 1301 comp
Beretta a300 outlander

I own the a400 and 1301 and have shot enough a300s to be able to recommend one

Another option is to look for a good used Beretta a301/2/3 series with a Mobil choke barrel or at least a modified barrel which will cover most hunting
