Our Skeet Field Will Be Shut Down All Summer

You obviously never read the previous posts.lol

I obviously did.

Have you considered there is an enjoyment loss to the shooting community in the area of Camrose that includes the city of Edmonton.

Are there mitigating circumstances that forbid you from requesting some form compensation for the loss of use of property?

You claim you are a non profit organization, but I believe that loss of use of property is worthy of a legal opinion.

Just sayin.

Arietta is correct.

If you had read my previous posts, you would see where I stated that we are a multi discipline facility, and trap and skeet pretty much break even. Our major revenues will not be effected at all , so the financial impact to the club will be minimal, and will in not threaten our ability to pay our bills, and keep the club solvent. If you actually calculate the financial impact of not operating trap and skeet, it would likely amount to about 1% of our revenue.

That could be kind of difficult for a civil suite.

Thank you for the explanation.

Best wishes.

See you again in 2025.

We will start shooting again next fall, unlike many clubs, we don't shut down for 5 months. As long as it is -10 or warmer we shoot, and typically, we only lose 4-5 days every winter.

Firstly.....shetty...someone had to say it.

A relative was hauling mine concentrate from the interior. The back haul was composted poop, road salt, or contaminated soil. Contaminated soil was often their own concentrate that got spilled or mixed when reloaded on bulk freighters. Next most common was contaminated soil from old gas stations. They would run the contaminated soil through their copper mining process and it would end up in tailings. The composted poop was sprayed on the tailings to grow grass.

We are still shooting as we wait for the notice that they are ready to begin the work. And we have had more people come out to try skeet, than in the past several years. I am thinking that we will gain at least a few members for 2025.

Good news today, I met the head contractor doing the work, and their heavy equipment will arrive mid June, and they are expecting to be complete by the end of August. If all goes as planned, the outage will be 2-1/2 months , not the five months we were told originally.

Excellent:

Hey Mister stubblejumper:

Is there any way you might want to "personalize" your range a little bit to your personal preference's for your client's education when you have some of that heavy equipment around?

If you know what I mean.

Just sayin.

Best Wishes.

We were at least hoping to get some of the dirt that they were digging out, to build berms, but due to the materials dumped in the lagoon that caused this situation , they are hauling it away.

Refund your members a pro rated amount of their dues based on the closure and then claim that as a loss.

If we we only a trap& skeet club, that would be simple, but we also offer rifle, handgun and archery, and trap and
skeet is one of the disciplines used by only 5% or so of the members. So if you do the math, and 5% of the members lose 20% of the season, that amounts to about 1% of our membership income. And to further complicate things, most of the people that shoot skeet/trap, also use the other ranges, and would be members even if we didn't offer trap and skeet. So financially, the impact isn't worth trying to claim.

Stubblejumper- sorry to hear about this problem - have you ever heard what the contamination is yet or are they being TIGHT lipped about it still ? Just wondering ! Good Luck . RJ

All we were told was hazardous chemicals. The city knows who dumped it, and their insurance is paying the bill.
